Airline Approved Pet Carriers Offer Safer Travel For Pets

Airline approved pet carriers are designed to make traveling with your dog less stressful. Most airlines require pet owners to meet several criteria when they wish to fly with their animal, so you want to be certain of what the airline requires for a pet carrier ahead of time. Figure out what specifications your pet carrier must meet before you end up sitting at the airport with a pet that they will not allow on the plane. Of course, always traveling with an airline approved carrier will save the bother of dealing with this type of situation.

Your animal will be traveling one of two ways, and this is conditional on your pet’s size. During air travel your large dog will be riding in another area of the plane, separate from the passengers. You’ll need to bring an oversized carrier that still meets airline regulations if you wish to do this. Your animal will have to wait to check in until you have given your name, address, and destination. If something goes wrong during the flight and the carrier doesn’t arrive at the same time or place as your flight, that information attached to the carrier will help you get reunited again.

Smaller dogs and cats can be brought into the passenger area of the plane as carry on luggage. You can only do this if your carrier is airline-approved. Each airline publishes the maximum carry-on dimensions allowed for luggage and pet carriers must also meet this. The safest place for the pet carrier is on the floor in front of you. This way, your pet can relax, knowing that they’re near you.
