It’s not that difficult to grow and take care of orchids. If you have your heart set on planting them, then investigate the humidity and light requirements for the species you want. Many can grow in any home. In fact, some are no harder to take care of than an African Violet!
The crucial thing is the humidity, but don’t let that scare you into believing you have to have a greenhouse built. You can grow orchids in any room, but make sure the area near the plant is humid. What is the humidty range an orchid needs? Every species is different so it could be anywhere between 40 and 70 percent.
Light is important to your orchid plants too. You might need to get grow lights if you live in a northern climate but most will do well in a good southern exposure.
