Insert the Boom back in your numbers with Great PowerPoint Layouts
PowerPoint has become such a common business standard that a mediocre PowerPoint presentation is immediately marked as such. Especially if you’re making a sales presentation, a poor presentation may even hurt your business.
PowerPoint presentations can be employed for several purposes. In education and in edifying meetings, they use illustrations and easy-to-read text to help attendees to comprehend the information being given.
But making a high quality PowerPoint presentation takes time. And while it is occasionally tempting to simply pass this job on to somebody with more time, it is often a good thought to do this work yourself, or at least create and organize the information for each slide.
Since PowerPoint in sales presentations and other meetings is such an important tool, it’s key to spend some time learning how to improve your own PowerPoint presentations. For both unprofessional and advanced users, there are always tricks to be learned to make your presentations more striking and effective.
Another good way to assist your PowerPoint presentation is to write a handout to go along with the information. With PowerPoint, you want to enhance the information you’re providing, so be sure to keep the facts in the presentation itself to a minimum. Keep slides clean, succinct, and impactful.
Costly PowerPoint templates incorporate the kind of clipart, animation, and transitions that you might not be able to create yourself. With well-made flash animation and sharp clipart, your presentation will really stand out. But be sure not to get anything too involved. You don’t want to distract from your presentation itself.
Don’t use too many bullet points and specifically don’t use paragraphs to get your idea across. You should be doing that yourself. Also, don’t pack your presentation with graphics, involved animated transitions, and graphics. Remember that the talk is about the information. Especially for commerce presentations, you don’t want anybody in the room to depart feeling that they’ve wasted their time watching fancy animations. Too many extras on your PowerPoint slides will detract from your presentation rather than add to it.
As a normal human cannot absorb more than ten new pieces of information in a sitting, each of your ten slides will give you the highest effect. It should take you about five minutes to explain each slide. Much more than that and you’re talking too much. Much less, and people will question the necessity to have that slide in the first place. A twenty-minute talk leaves plenty of time for set up, and allows questions to be asked after.
PowerPoint is one of the most useful presentation tools you can use for business meetings and sales presentations. A good PowerPoint presentation helps to underline your message while giving the audience pieces of information that will last. While a good presentation will help your business and add to your meeting, a bad one can do just the opposite.
