Collecting knives and swords is a fun hobby. Authentic antique knives and swords are remarkable in their craftsmanship and stories. Owning a piece of history like that is amazing and nothing can match it. The only problem with this is that collectible knives and swords are hard to find. Usually they show up at flea markets but you can’t scour those all the time. Or they show up at very pricey auctions which are out of the price range of most of our budgets. Thankfully the internet has changed that and made it possible for anyone to sell and buy rare and amazing collectible knives and swords.

Antique silver are items made from silver that are old and rare. If you collect antique silver, one of the main problems is preventing them from tarnishing.
Any antique collector knows that silver tarnishes over time, if they are exposed to the air and moisture. They lose their shine and appear dull. One of the things you can do according to this article on caring for your antique silverware, is to handle them frequently. That might sound strange, but in effect it’s not. Silver happens to be a conductor of electricity, and when we handle them a lot, I suppose the electric currents emanating from our life energy helps in slowing down the antiques from tarnishing.

Both my wife and I are on tight budgets for the same reason. We both love to travel, so we budget all year long to save every penny we can. We like to live well at the same time, and we entertain friends and family, and we try to save as much money doing it. That is why we both love to shop at discount furniture stores online and in our city where we live, whenever we get a chance to save some money on home decorating.

Although it is nearly 100 years old, the grace and style of the Art Deco period is still quite popular and many people choose an Art Deco Decorating style for their modern homes. This style is both elegant and timeless and looks just as home today as it did 80 years ago.
When decorating in the Art Deco style, you want to take care to buy vintage items as much as possible. Marble, chrome and mahogany graced the period and are still beautiful materials today. Be sure to stick to clean geometric lines and interesting accessories to accent your home.

Today we are seeing a nostalgia for days gone by which explains whey certain decorating styles, such as the mission style, are seeing such a big comeback. Here are some tips on mission style decorating for the kitchen:
1. The mission style is characterized by warm oak so you want to be sure to have oak for your tables and chairs as well as any bakers racks or other furniture.
2. This style is also famous for it’s clean lines, so you want to stay away from Victorian furniture that is rather ornate and stick with the simple lines of the mission era.
3. Mission accessories should be hand hammered copper - for the kitchen use bowls, pitchers and plates with a hand hammered look and an antique patina.
4. If you want your furniture and accessories to go up in value, collect pieces from some of the finest makers of the era such as Stickley and Roycroft.

It wasn’t unusual to find furniture lying out front at that time of the year. Students were always moving out and getting rid of things in the spring, so finding an upholstered armchair in front of a rental house wasn’t unexpected. Nevertheless, it was an unusually nice chair. I was pretty surprised by it actually. It was a big upholstered leather chair, a recliner made for comfort and luxury. Although the foot rest was broken, everything else seemed all right about it. I felt pretty luck to have been the first person to find it.

I have seen a lot of wrought iron beds in my life, but this one is really spectacular.
It is exactly what you would think of when you try to picture a wrought iron bed. It is as big and ornamental as your typical wrought iron fence, in fact. It is solidly made with flourishes, flowers, and big iron lion’s feet at the bottom. It has actually been in my family for generations.
My father claims that it was a priceless antique, but my mother says that he is just being silly. She says that there are thousands of wrought iron bed frames just like this one out there, and it is not worth anything except its sentimental value.
I’ve got lots of information about wrought iron beds and other wrought iron furniture and wrought iron decor at my site, What-We-Have-Wrought: Wrought Iron Bed.

Antique furniture dealers provide beautiful furniture for their customers, and these dealers are very knowledgeable about their inventories. Antique furniture dealers know whether they are selling genuine antiques or they would go out of business very quickly. These people also know about the values of their inventories, and they know how much money they should be able to get for each piece. Antique furniture dealers need to know about the value of each piece, and they have to know about the condition of each piece. The quality of the pieces can make a significant difference in the prices they can charge for the pieces.

So surprised that the people who collect antique dolls never play with them. Most of these collectible dolls sit in cases day in and day out. Their owners are extremely protective of them. They won’t even let you take them out to examine them. Not only are they worried about their antique porcelain dolls getting broken, but they are even worried about fingerprints. In my mind, this is pretty absurd. It is alright to have children’s toys when you are an adult, but it isn’t alright to have children’s toys when you can no longer enjoy them like a child. Whether you collect antique Barbie dolls, Madame Alexander dolls, porcelain figurines, or some other style entirely, you should enjoy them. That is, after all, the purpose of dolls.

Not only do you need some basic automotive skills and connections with an excellent mechanic, but you need a nose for quality antique cars. You need to know by the sound of the engine whether an antique automobile is running rough, or purring like new. You need to be able to take one look at it and have a pretty reasonable guess as to whether it has stock parts or parts that have been swapped out for newer, less valuable gear. As an antique car trader, you should know what is under the hood before you even open it.

I have stayed in touch with one friend from high school through the years. I called her to see if she was going to go to the reunion. We discussed this and decided that we would go together. We would not put our husbands through the ordeal of trying to look interested as we caught up with old classmates.
When we arrived at the reunion we were given name tags and a copy of the booklet updating us on our classmates. There were a few people we were very interested in looking up. We found a nice place at the end of the bar where we could watch people come in and see who we could recognize. One very distinguished man walked in dressed in a very nice suit. We assumed he was the spouse of one of our classmates. We could not read his name tag from where we were sitting and as time passed it was obvious that he was alone. We asked another person who it was. He said that it was one of our classmates. He had been very quiet in school and always covered in grease. He had gotten into antique car sales after high school and was very successful.

An article about wicker daybeds for outdoor living
With spring just around the corner, our thoughts turn to blossoming trees, spring bulbs and the freshening spring breezes signaling the end of the long winter. Spending time outside is so pleasant after spending much of the winter stuck indoors. Sometimes it’s nice to just take a nap or read a book on the back porch, taking in that fresh springtime air. Although you may have lounge chairs or a chaise lounge, the ultimate kick back piece of furniture for such days is the wicker daybed.
