Men - Using the Direct Approach when Meeting Women

Wednesday, February 27th, 2008

Most of us, subconsciously, do what we’re told. It’s one of the secrets of successful advertising, the “call to action”. It’s the part of the ad that tells you “Call today!” or “Don’t touch that dial!” or “Order now while supplies last!”

Note that none of those statements ASKED you to do anything . . . they TOLD you to do something.

When ordered to do a task most of us will automatically start doing it before we’ve even started thinking about it. We may catch ourselves, of course, and then stop – otherwise I’d have 8000 of the Flexo-Thigh-Grinder 2000 at home (I don’t)…

Best Seller Books

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I am not sure why we are in such a hurry or what is being done with all the time we are saving using these conveniences. There are times when I think that I was born in the wrong era. I still enjoy slow cooked meals, writing letters and reading the long versions of books. I still seem to have time to complete the rest of the tasks that life throws at me.

I make a point of reading best seller books as often as I can.

Listening to the Audio Books Increases People’s Interest in Books

Monday, January 14th, 2008

When audio books first came on the market I thought they were ridiculous. It seemed to me that it was just one more way people would avoid the quiet. I also thought it would contribute to illiteracy. I am finding that I was wrong. Listening to the Audio Books increases people’s interest in books.

My children have started to read more because of listening to some of my books with me. Also listening together helps stimulate some lively discussions about the book. For me the audio helps to bring the characters alive. I especially like the books that feature the author as the narrator. With the author reading the book you know that the emphasis will be placed on what the key words are.

It is interesting that there are some audio books that I am not able to listen to because I do not like the narrator. I need to have a certain pitch voice to hold my attention and interest level. If the pitch is not right I find that I get irritated and my anxiety level goes up.

My travel time goes much faster when I am listening to a book. I find that I arrive in much calmer spirits and traffic and poor drivers do not bother me as much as they used to.

Audio Books for Children

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

I am not a perfect parent. I rely on the modern devices to help me with entertaining my children, especially in the car. We ride in the car about four hours a month on the weekends to visit grandparents. My husband and I do not like to listen to the sounds of the hand held games and we refuse to have a car DVD player. We decided that we would use audio books for children during a portion of each drive. This would be educational and would allow us to discuss the books after they were done…

The Power of Audio Books

Friday, September 14th, 2007

Audio books have come to change the learning scope of nearly everyone of us as learning might be done easier now. Also, for those who don’t like reading novels and other fun books, audio books now help them to still enjoy such books with ease. The majority of people just can’t compare the joy of “listening” to their favorite book with spending time to read it; this has caused many to prefer audio books to traditional books. This ease and comfort of audio books is now one of the reasons why most book titles also come in audio book format lately.

It’s not vague that one can save countless time if “listening” to a book while driving from side to side work daily than to dedicate blocks of time reading that same book in physical book format. With the exception of gaining more time taking note of Audio Books one would gain countless knowledge as well. It’s no wonder why oldies, adults and even sons and daughters absolutely love audio books more than physical printed books. Also, aside from other advantages of audio books, they are much more easier to produce and distribute than paperback and hardcover books.

One other advantage of audio books that hardcover and paperbacks don’t have is the fact that audio books help in nature conservation. People who always have one household chore or the other can go ahead to do their chores and find out audio books at the same time. Among all these advantages of audio books, one of the best of them is the fact that one can take heed to an audio book even while it’s dark, unlike the paperback or hardcover that can’t be read at the hours of darkness. If you’re now convinced about the many advantages of audio books and want to get your own copies of your favorite titles, conduct a hunt on any of the major search engines for the particular title and check for the audio book format; you’re guaranteed to find it.

Finding the Strength to Write A Diet Article

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

As a writer, I have to be distant from my subject matter. I have to be strong and confident so that I can get the quotes that I need to make my articles work. Through writing diet articles, I could show that I have had to deal with the same personal struggles that everyone else does. My other articles are not insincere, and I have not lied about who I am in the past, but I certainly haven’t revealed it. I felt that it was time to reveal a part of myself in my article writing.  That is why I finally decided to write a diet article. All my publishing contacts were really perplexed. Weight loss articles, after all, are not seen as a serious topic.

Review: Coach Yourself to Success, life coach book

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

In “Coach Yourself to Success,” Talane Miedaner gives 101 tips to help you reach your life goals. If you’ve ever wanted a life coach to work right beside you, this is a wonderful book to use as a life coaching tool.

What is a life coach? Someone who helps you see where you’re losing energy and where you can make better choices in your life. Life coaches can be expensive, though. After all, they go through life coach training, or take life coaching courses to become a personal life coach.

And becoming a life coach isn’t as easy as one might think. A life coach career can be very rewarding, though.

But getting back to the point, I was so amazed while I was reading this book. It really was like having a life coach sitting right next to me, helping me see where I’m wasting time, where I’m losing energy (and that’s a huge point, and maybe not something you even think about). She helps you see how you can increase your natural, personal power. She helps you see things from a new perspective in relationships, how to do work you really love to do, how to design your ideal life.

Learn life skills from a life coach

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

About a year ago, when my life was a little “messy,” I was thinking, “Boy, I could use a good life coach.”

That thought led to me purchasing the domain name Life-Coach-Yourself. Once I had the domain name, I thought, “Well, I should really get a book on the subject and see what it’s all about.”

And, boy, did I ever pick a winner! I happened to choose “Coach Yourself to Success” by Talane Miedaner. (Read my review on the next page.) I learned so much from that book, about what it takes to make your life successful, it really had a big impact on me.

A life coach will teach you life skills, put you on a “life skills program,” so to speak. All these little life skills, such as being on time, communicating effectively, sending thank-you cards to everyone who does a service for you, etc., etc. … they all add up. These seemingly minor skills all add up to being overall important skills for life.

A good life skills coach can save you years of effort on your own. He or she can keep you focused on what’s important, help you to stay on track with your goals.

Non fiction books are some of the best sellers

Thursday, July 12th, 2007

Nonfiction books have always been around, but they seem to be more popular then ever these days. You cannot walk through a book store without thinking you are lacking in just about every area of your life. There are nonfiction books that tell you how to dress, how to talk, how to date, how to divorce, how to raise your kids, and how to pack for vacation. I know we all need a little guidance now and then, but it makes you wonder if people would prefer that others do their thinking for them.

Have You Tried Backyard Gardening? Food Never Tasted So Good.

Monday, July 9th, 2007

I love summer and when it finally arrives here on the east coast of Canada we don’t waste too much time getting into it. We have our dream house now and spend a lot of time in the backyard, but it’s not quite what we want just yet.We have a lot of things to do during the nice summer months. Things like so many others associate backyards with, like family picnics, BBQs, swimming, and outdoor sports. Even though we love all that fun stuff there was something missing in our new backyard and that is growing a vegetable garden.

You might say why bother but I was raised on a farm and we grew almost all the food we needed to get through the long cold winters and I miss that. Buying everything from the grocery stores seems so boring and things just don’t taste the same do they.

Take the time to learn to garden and you will be amazed at what happens.

I truly believe the benefits of growing a garden real out-weigh any work involved in gardening. Check out the benefits to backyard gardening and determine if growing a garden is for you.

Do You Know Any Card Tricks?

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

Though I’m not much of a magician, I do know a few card tricks. I didn’t set out to learn them, it just kind of happened. I dated a guy in college who knew a few, and they were certainly not your average tricks. After months and months of begging, he finally showed me how to do a few of them. I don’t do them very often now, but there are moments when things get boring and someone has to do something.

There are hundreds of different card tricks out there, and almost anyone can do them. You just have to have patience and you really have to practice to get the card tricks just right. Even one little slip will give away your secrets. When that happens, the trick is ruined. Make sure you can do it over and over again without slipping up before you attempt to do it for anyone. Once you mess up, the illusion of the trick is broken.

Digital audiobooks a big part of recreational reading

Friday, June 22nd, 2007

In many ways, the digital audiobook is nothing new. People have been listening to books on tape for a long time. Although the format has changed – Record has given way to cassettes, which has given way to CDs, which have ultimately given way to the downloadable audio book – the books are still pretty much the same. There is one big difference, however. Digital audio books have become much more convenient and much more portable.

Coin collecting book

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

Most of the expert coin collectors advise that every newbie in coin collecting should buy a coin collecting book before he buys a coin. Engaging in this activity is not merely a “finder’s keepers? type of game. The argument of this concept is based on the premise that rare coin collecting is not an ordinary activity where people can just grab any kind of coin that they see. It is important to know the basics of coin collecting to appropriately categorize the kinds of coins that are fit for compilation.

Not all coins are worth collecting, and there are coins that some people may not consider worthy are actually rare and valuable. None of these things would be disclosed to a coin collector if not for the information gained from the coin collecting book.
