Learning Digital Photography

January 28th, 2010

There will always be a market for cameras that use film, but more and more people who take snapshots and do not use their cameras for commercial uses are buying digital. Not only can you see the pictures you have taken right away, you do not have to have them developed. You can take a picture and have it printed from your home computer within a matter of minutes. If you want to take more than the average snapshot with your digital, you have to learn digital photography. The basics of learning digital photography are the same, but the way the camera works is different. That is what you have to learn. Older digital cameras came with a setting that allows the user to set flash, exposure, and focus just like with a manual film camera.

Famous Photography: Raising The Flag On Iwo Jima

January 26th, 2010

In case you are wondering what this most famous of famous photography images looks like, let’s refresh your memory. It is a stark black and white photograph of six United States Marines pushing to raise a battle-scared American flag and pole into the sand and twisted landscape. The flag is rising towards a bright white sky. It looks as if the Marines are having a tough time raising the flag.

Surveillance camera alarm systems

January 17th, 2010

Alarms systems of one type or another have almost become a necessity for safety and security at home. THere are many different kinds of alarm systems to choose from. Which alarm systems you choose depends on what your biggest fear is or what the largest danger to your safety or security is. You can also get vehicle alarms that work very well.

Alarms systems can be either wireless or hard wired. If you’re building a new house you should consider having the alarm systems be hard wired. However be aware that you will need a battery backup for the wired systems. If the power goes off for some reason and you don’t have a battery backup for the alarms you won’t be protected. That’s the biggest drawback with wired systems and the one thing most people don’t do. Always, always have a battery backup.

Surveillance cameras are everywhere now. It doesn’t seem as though people understand this little fact of life. A surveillance camera video seems to show up on the news every night. Even with signs on the buildings saying surveillance cameras in use, the dummies still think they aren’t going to get caught. It makes you wonder if people think they are invisible.

If you watch Criminal Minds or CSI-Vegas or a lot of other shows you can see them following suspects from one camera to the next. This is another thing people don’t believe about surveillance cameras but it’s also true. Big brother is here and the cameras are his main tool.

Remember when hardly any place had surveillance cameras and when they did catch something on film it was so dark and grainy identification was almost impossible? Now a good surveillance system can pick up a gray hair on a redhead in a heart beat. The camera technology has improved that much. With good systems the pictures are crystal clear and people are very easily identifiable. So why do the dummies still rob places with surveillance cameras?

The Advantages Of A Mobile Photography Studio

January 9th, 2010

Just what makes a photography Studio?
You don’t need to bring everything and the kitchen sink along to your next portrait gig. You do need a van, truck or at least a station wagon filled with lighting equipment, extension cords, extra batteries, different colored background drapes or cloths, a tripod, some reflective umbrellas or cards to help with your lighting and a vast array of props. Usually, adults don’t need any more props than a chair. But pets and kids need some squeaky toys to get their attention, at least. And, of course, you need a camera or two.

Home security and video surveillance

December 29th, 2009

Home security is a personal responsibility and home security is something you should think about when buying your house. You consider the neighborhood because you want to live in a safe and secure neighborhood but few people consider home security beyond that when buying a house.

Most new home owners don’t think much about security until they move into the house. Most loans require the house to be insured and that covers you if someone gets hurt on your property or something gets stolen but it is not home security. Your home owners insurance generally comes into effect after you’ve been robbed, not before. Home owners insurance is not security against being robbed or hurt in your own home.

If you’re interested in home video surveillance of your house you should know that it is a very good way to document what’s happening in and around your home. While home video surveillance may not keep your house from being broken into it will aid in convicting the people who broke in. Putting up a sign saying your house uses video surveillance may be a deterrant to some.

When they were first introduced, video surveillance systems were mostly used with medium to large businesses. These days however, they are becoming more and more common in homes. Video surveillance security systems are also known as Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) and are used to monitor certain areas around the home and help to protect it from burglars and thieves.

What Makes A Photography Gallery Special

December 4th, 2009

The images selected to hang in a photography gallery aren’t just interesting compositions or shapes. They might be entirely what you think a bad picture would be. Images in Photography galleries can be blurred, unfocused, off-center or poorly lit. But the images in a photography gallery not only show the story of what that image is about and, most tellingly, they tell the story of the photographer behind the lens.

Portrait Photography Tips That Will Add Extra Flair to Your Images

July 21st, 2009

There are portrait photography tips you can use to help correct issues with the subjects of your portraits. If the subject has a round or fat face, try posing them three-fourths to the camera, using short lighting, and slightly raising the camera angle. Pose models with thin faces facing the camera. If your subject has deep lines or wrinkles, try using softer, frontal lighting. Sometimes scars and blemishes can be concealed by repositioning the subject to shadow the problem areas. When blinking is a problem, try to time your shots to right after the subject blinks. You can compensate for deep set eyes by directing light into the eyes. A bigger nose can be obscured by posing nose straight into lens or raising the chin, whereas a small nose should be positioned at an angle to the camera. Multiple chins can be concealed by having the subject lean their head toward the camera and stretching their neck.

Choosing the Right Portrait Photographer

July 3rd, 2009

When you get in touch with a portrait studio, the first question you should ask is how long they have been in business. Portrait Photographers should have several years of experience. They should also have all of the equipment needed to produce the quality portraits you would expect from a professional, including flashes, lighting, corrective airbrush technology, clothing, make-up and hair stylists, and props. They should have everything you need to create memorable portraits that can be treasured by generations to come. Some people expect more than just lights and posing from the photography studio; they want a professional make-up artist and hair stylist to glamorize and enhance their appearance. A studio that can provide make-up and hair styles, and clothing like dresses and costumes, can create extraordinary portraits that truly stand out from the rest.

Hidden Security Cameras

June 18th, 2009

Shopping malls, lavish offices, public places such as airports, entertainment centers, movie theatres, etc. have one thing in common: hidden cameras. It is a fact that all new buildings and most public and private properties are installing hidden security cameras to help them keep a vigil over any unlawful event such as trespassing, theft or any kind of abuse. In this fast age of new inventions, hidden security cameras are becoming an important part of places with public traffic. These spy cams are replacing human security staffs who cannot be present everywhere invisibly! There are many varieties of hidden cameras available as per the client’s requirement. We have specialized technical staff to help our clients choose the right camera as per their level of security required. Apart from these huge public places, people have started understanding the importance of such hidden security cameras for their houses and offices or shops, where they can keep a tight watch on all happenings taking place in their absence. Shopkeepers find these cameras very useful to keep an eye on their employees and customers. More and more parents are getting alert about nanny abuse and child mishandling and because of this they are installing small nanny cameras to help them watch the kid’s nannies from their respective work places.

Hidden security cameras come in all shapes and sizes providing different functional values. Usually, these spy cameras are so small that they can be fitted to any desired object or place which cannot be easily discovered by anyone else. These hidden security cameras are designed to suit various requirements of our clients. One can go in for a wired or wireless camera, as per their budget and their needs. To increase the service value of these cams, they are disguised into various objects used in our day to day lives, such as books, lamps, CD players, pictures, pens, clocks, fans, etc. The list is endless and to make it more difficult for anyone to even find the placing of these surveillance equipment, you can choose from various colors and designs to match your home décor. If you are made to enter a home with a hidden camera and asked to find where it is placed, it would not be an easy task for you or any other stranger entering with criminal intentions.

A Digital Camera

May 2nd, 2009

An article about: A Digital Camera

Of course there are those who feel that a digital camera takes away from the essence of photography – the artistic stage where the photographer is able to touch-up on the photographs during the development stage in order to highlight a few factors or even to conceal any flaws. But with the omnipresence of digital image manipulation tools like Photoshop among a host of others, a digital camera is a potent tool that can make an artist of even the most clumsy of us….

Video Security

An article about: Video Security

If you get video security cameras that are hidden, they won’t be a deterrent, though they will do the job of recording what is going on. Business have these going all the time sometimes, and homeowners have them running at night or when they are away from home. The more visible cameras give…

Spy Cameras

April 2nd, 2009

When I was a kid, I thought that surveillance equipment was neat. Nowadays, I just think of it as part of my job. Most people do not really think about it, but there are spy cameras nearly everywhere. Just take a minute to digest this observation, because I am not being paranoid. When you walk down a street in the downtown of any city in the country, you are probably being watched by at least one spy camera at any given time. Maybe your face is being recorded by the ATM that you are passing, or an image of your silhouette is being registered by a surveillance camera on top of a bank across the street. There might be a traffic camera grabbing the corner of the sidewalk you are walking past, or some amateur photographer down the alleyway, capturing frames of folks passing by.

Easy Techniques For Nature Photography

February 16th, 2009

When practicing nature photography, it is important to choose settings or positions that are unique and draw attention to your photograph. Everyone has seen the photograph of the single flower from the side or the bird sitting on a fence post, so taking those types of photographs will not really impress anyone. You will need to choose an image for your photo that has not been seen in every nature calendar and book that has ever been made.Taking a nature photograph can be easy, but mastering nature photography is a difficult pursuit that can take many years of practice to get correct.

Digital Camera Ratings Are Good To Know

November 20th, 2008

Like any other electronic purchase, buying a quality digital camera is often an investment that should not be taken lightly. Considering that you can spend upwards of a thousand dollars on a really good one, with the average price for a quality item being around three to five hundred dollars. What this means is that a good amount of thought and research is needed before you decide which one you want to spend your hard earned money on in the store. One thing that you can do to help you decide is to look around for digital camera ratings, which are always very helpful. You will need to have some sort of an idea for what you are looking for because there are many things you can find when you look for digital camera ratings online. On the other hand if you have no idea what you even want in a camera, you can use these to see what different cameras have to offer. You can then decide which features you want, and which ones you can live without. Some like to have video capacity on a digital, and others find that to be something they don’t really need.

What Things To Consider When Buying Digital Camcorders

October 21st, 2008

The difficulty that I’m having is that because my experience with digital camcorders is limited, I’m not sure what I am looking for. But having looked at so many of them recently now if you ask me what to look for in a digital camcorder, I can tell you right off the bat. I would guess the needs and fixtures would be about the same, but the memory needed would be much higher. Most who want digital camcorders should expect to film as long as they need without having to worry too much about how much space they have left and if they are going to run out of memory just when they need it the most.

I guess that would make the most important requirement for digital camcorders is the memory. How much and how long, and also the quality of the recording. Those with lower memory may go longer, but you may have to give up quality to get that longer recording time. That’s not something that works well with this type of format.

The Problem With the Best Digital Camcorders is That All the Thieves Recognize Them

July 7th, 2008

When I got my first digital mini DV, I put a lot of research into it. I was determined to get the best digital camcorder. You see, I was an amateur filmmaker the time, and thought that I was pretty hot stuff. I had made a few movies that had been shown at local film festivals, and had received fairly positive reviews. I did not realize that this didn’t mean very much. The world is filled with amateur film guys with local followings. I thought that only the best digital camcorders would let me compete against the big name bullies – the main Hollywood studios…..

Taking Great Pictures With Underwater Cameras

June 13th, 2008

I decided to go all out. I figured that, if I was going to try something new, I might as will use the right equipment. I bought a top-of-the-line underwater digital camera and headed for the beach. I did not know a lot about taking the pictures, and my first forays into underwater photography were sort of misadventures. Nonetheless, I was impressed by how much the underwater camera captured. I could see fish, corals at the bottom, patterns of sunlight and shadow playing on the ocean floor – it was gorgeous. It would automatically adjust to different lighting conditions, guaranteeing that I would always get a pretty good results.
