Usually the first treatment mentioned for Autism is medication. However, recent studies show that there is a growing preference for alternative cures as well. Natural methods of treatment normally do not cause side effects as compared to medications. Here are some alternative treatments used for Autism.
Diets For Autism
There are several diets that can be used when treating Autism. You should avoid dairy products and try the ones which are free of gluten. Some Autistic children have a sensitivity to certain ingredients in food. These ingredients will contribute to behavioral problems, or meltdowns when eaten.
Omega 3’s
Omega 3 is a handy medicine for treating Autism, as well as many other disorders. Omega 3 users have reported improved sleep, active social participation, and general well-being of their child. Adding Fish oil to an autistic child’s diet would be a good idea. Fish oil can be found in capsule for or liquid. Some children have trouble swallowing the capsule. The liquid form can be found in a flavorless type that is mixed in a drink.
Music Therapy
Evidence suggests that music theory contributes in a big way in curing autism. Sometimes an Autistic child will sing along with music while they will not speak. This is one way of working on the child’s speech. The music can be soothing to an Autistic child. It can relax them enough to take part in an activity with other people.
Play Therapy
Play therapy can be very useful when treating an Autistic child. Play therapy allows the child to relax and focus on things they enjoy. A therapist working with an autistic child will play on the floor with the child. They will give the child various toys and see if the child takes a liking to one of them. If the child begins to play the therapist will then try to interact with the child. After the therapist has formed a relationship with the child they might bring another child into play therapy. This can be a great way to get the Autistic child to play with other kids. Usually a therapist does the play therapy, however the parent can do the therapy after they have learned the techniques used.
Sensory Integration
Children with Autism can be alert to various senses like noises, tastes, textures, and smells. Sensory integration therapy helps the child to deal with whatever it is causing them problems. It can also be used to calm a child with something like a certain smell or texture.
Speech Therapy
For obvious reasons speech therapy should be mandatory part of autism treatment. Children with Autism usually misuse words. They often have a hard time understanding the meanings of words like few or many. Speech therapy can help teach gestures and communication skills to nonverbal children. Speech Therapy develops the skill of reading body language.
These are just a few of the many alternative treatments available for Autism. Medication does not have to be a first resort. In fact a combination of medication and one or more alternative treatments for autism will result in better and faster results.

If you’re planning an all day excursion with the kids, layering clothes just makes good sense. It may be nippy in the morning when you leave home and very warm by noon. Light nylon windbreakers provide a good amount of warmth in the early part of the day, but can be tied around the waist or stuffed in a backpack as the day heats up. Thick socks and sneakers will keep you warm and prevent a cold when it’s chilly. When the socks become a liability, toss them in a plastic bag and into your backpack. If the day really warms up, you can exchange those sneakers for flip-flops stored in your handy backpack.
Layering clothes is an art.

Instead, finding means to foster relationships is a two-way process. Your children learn from you just as you need to acquire better parenting knowledge by taking active parenting classes or seeking help from counselors or social worker.

I have always been fascinated by the moon and as a child used to view it through a fairly basis telescope which my parents bought me (unexpectedly) one Christmas. Over the years other interests took over along with the pressures of a family taking up my time. What I hadn’t realised what that in the intervening period some great software has come out which if you have an interest in both facts and figures and astronomy, will certainly hold a lot of interest for you. Moon phase predictions software now contains so many items of interest that you may not need your telescope again!

Every man has food and beverage favorites. Some men even like to cook. The traditional food gift basket may seem like an obvious choice, but you don’t need to fill this basket with the usual lineup - sausage, cheese (be careful with fridgeable items!) jams and fruit. What about Indian spices, biscuits or his favourite tea or coffee?
Let’s say your guy does a lot of fishing. A big tackle box makes a macho presentation in this gift basket for men. Men who fish cannot have too many bait jars, lures, line and weights. A visit to the fishing section of any sports store reveals many interesting lures and types of bait. Likewise if he is in to golf - golf balls, chocolate, golf gadgets and accessories would make excellent additions to any gift basket

When I was growing up, I used to always look forward to playing educational games. My favorite ones were the educational board games. I was always pretty good at Scrabble. I was a very literate kid, and sometimes I could even beat the grown ups. At the time, I thought I was hot stuff. In retrospect I understand that they might have been letting me win, but I think I still could have given them a run for their money.
We didn’t have a lot of educational computer games when I was growing up, but we had a few. The Oregon Trail is a classic of my generation. Although current educational games are much more sophisticated, for the time it was pretty good. It really gave you a little bit of an idea of what life was like for the pioneers blazing a trail out west. The gameplay aspect was good enough to make it fun and entertaining

For many of us, ahem, older folk, one of the fondest and most unique memories is of our fathers or grandfathers, grandmothers or mothers taking time out to crank that old ice cream machine: in my case, living with Mom and Dad next door to grandparents, I recall how Pop would get out this bucket (either metal or wooden, I think) with a mechanism that was drawn across the opening and which had a small reservoir suspended from it and into the bucket. At one end of the ice cream “machine” was a hand crank. Pop filled the bucket with ice, inserted the thingy, poured cream and sugar (and coffee) into the center reservoir, and then proceeded to crank by hand for a long time. The drippy mixture would slowly turn into a thicker, sweet soupy mixture, and, eventually, into a creamy, cold treat.

The best way of selecting children toys you want to get for toddlers must be such that it holds the attention of the toddler. The main concern is the color. Children like toys that have lots of reds and yellows in them, closely followed by green and blues. I would personally choose a toy that has a combination of different colors. Experience proves that toddlers do not care for the shape of the toy as much as they care for the color. As long as the children toys look appealing to the eye, toddlers will like to hold them and play with them, and will keep returning to the toys quite often. When it comes to getting children toys for very small kids, the primary concern is of course the safety of the toy. The children toys manufacturers themselves are quite alive to this requirement. When selecting children toys for children, there is a clear indication mention the age above which toy is suitable for children.

One massive consideration all parents have is their child’s education. We all want the ideal for our kids, but not all children can go to the top schools. That’s a shame really, as it would seem it would be possible for many schools to have this distinction. Instead, there are some really great ones, and there are some that are failing miserably. I often wonder why we’re so concerned with butting into business in other countries when we need help right here at home when it comes to turning mediocre schools to top schools . Read more…

If you want less candy in your kids Easter baskets, you can make your own like I did, or look for ones that have different things in them. You can get a lot of great springtime items to put in the basket. As long as they find at least some candy in their baskets they are going to be fine with the rest being missing. If they don’t know, they certainly aren’t going to complain. If you think about what is coming with springtime, you can come up with some great ideas to make your own kids Easter baskets.
Last year, I filled up a huge basket for my daughter. I put in a chocolate bunny for her because I think no basket is complete without one. I also got her some jelly beans, but that was all of the candy that I added. I also got some sidewalk chalk, a kite, bubbles, and some sidewalk paint. We then added some flip flops and some sunglasses, along with a blow up toy for the summer time. She was pleased with what she got, and she got great use out of each of the items. If you want to make kids Easter baskets with less candy, you can use the same items. They are guaranteed to be hits.

Though seeing a fire truck racing down the road with it’s lights on and horn blaring is never a good omen, children cannot help but be fascinated. Even when my daughter hears the sirens she immediately announces that there is a fire truck on the way. She already knows from experience that when you see one behind you coming swiftly down the road that you should pull over to let them pass. Perhaps the idea of a fire truck is something that will always caught the imagination of a child, and maybe that has something to do with the fact that they know if something goes wrong, there are people out there who will come to the rescue. It would be fun to be one of those truck drivers.

Allergies can be quite bothersome. They take on an entirely new level of irritation when they involve food and food by products. Many times, parents do not know what foods their child has developed allergies to until they have been exposed to those foods. Unfortunately, by the time they find out, their child has already suffered a troubling reaction. The ingredients in a food can also cause allergic reactions if they contain by products of the food allergen. This can be frightening to parents who do not know how to handle the symptoms of an allergic reaction.
Children can not be protected around the clock from harmful foods. There is always the possibility that they will eat something that contains a product that they are allergic to. That is why it is of vital importance for you and your child’s teachers to always have quick and easy access to their allergy medication. Whether it is epinephrine or anything else that helps to counteract the reaction, quick access and knowledge about how to administer the medication are key factors for your child’s well-being. It is also a good idea to get immediate medical attention, just for precaution if nothing else. Although some food allergies cause problems for a lifetime, many of them can be outgrown.
If you are concerned that your child may have a food allergy, it is crucial to have them screened through the use of an allergy skin test. This will eliminate any doubt in your mind about whether or not there is allergy present. Once diagnosed, inform all caretakers, family, and friends about the allergy, and teach your child to ask what is in the foods that they are offered. The best way to deal with food allergies in children is to completely avoid the foods that cause the reaction.
