Fishing with GPS tips for a fishing newbie

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

In this day and age, you would be hard pressed to find a fishing boat without some sort of fish finding device. Fishing with GPS devices has become the latest in technology and water safety when it comes to fishing. They are used as a means of navigation and a way to mark your spot so that you can find it again in the future.

A GPS is a Global Positioning System that is made primarily for navigational purposes. They work off a network of satellites that are placed into orbit by the United States Government. The best part about a GPS system is that because they operate off satellite, they can be used in any weather conditions at any hour of the day.

The satellites will circle the earth twice during the day and transmit signal information to Earth. The signals can then be used to calculate the user’s exact location by implementing triangulation and pinpointing exact spots. Triangulation means that the GPS receiver must be locked into three spots before a calculation of longitude and latitude can be displayed.

If you are a newbie to the sport of fishing you need to know some tips and the basic rules of fishing. These newbie fishing tips are for you.

Fishing is an ancient practice. It dates back nearly 10,000 years. A number of various techniques and traditions have been used during fishing’s progression and newbies always wonder what’s going on. Modern technological developments have changed the way people fish, but many of the same rules, regulations, and social norms involving fishing remain.

Always practice good stewardship of our ponds, lakes rivers and streams when you are fishing. Remember that these waterways were around thousands of years before you and will remain long after you are gone. You can make a conscious decision to leave the areas in which people fish in better condition than when you found it. Take care of our lakes, rivers, and other waterways so that others will enjoy these areas also. Practicing certain behaviors will ensure that you are taking good care of the places where people fish.

Fishing lures and beginning bass fishing lures

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Fishing lures are used to catch fish and the lure you use will depend on what kind of fish you want to catch. Freshwater lures are available in an endless variety of styles, colors, sizes, and types.

The purpose of a lure is to catch fish, however some say odd colored or weird lures are designed to catch fishermen. The type of lure or jig someone chooses is usually based on previous experience, preference, or what the local bait shop says.

Fishing lures are generally stored in Fishing tackle boxes having a bunch of small open compartments on top, over a large compartment that is the bottom of the box.

Lures too large for the smaller compartments are placed in the bottom compartment. Leave your big lures in their boxes or the bottom of your tackle box will be a tangled up mess.

You don’t have to know about every type of freshwater fishing lures. There are just to many to deal with at once, particularly if you are a newbie to fishing or just beginning.

Just bass lures alone come in may different types. Poppers, chuggers, spinner baits, twister tails, plain jigs, skirts and more. That’s just bass lures, not walleye lures, lake trout lures, muskie lures, brown trout lures, brook trout lures, tube lures or other freshwater lures that are available for you.

Had enough yet as that doesn’t include minnow shaped lures or diving plugs, let alone the choices of wooden, steel, plastic or rubber and natural, like feathers or hide. Now you know why this is called beginning bass fishing lures.

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

When it comes to planning about holiday trip, you might taken aback because of the recent recession and its effects. Like eveyone, I also was in same ship till i hear about kerala.
I was extremely surprised when i had vast search on the palce.Kerala is one of the smallest states in the Indian union. It was formed on 1956 November 1.The land is been dominated by long coconut trees. It is enriched with rivers and backwaters. Forty-four rivers (41 west-flowing and 3 east-flowing} crisscross the state physique along with countless runlets.Kerala has been called “god’s own country” because it is believed that the land crust that forms the state was raised from the depths of the ocean by Parasurama.

Walleye fishing techniques and fishing tackle boxes

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

Fishing tackle boxes are the next most important thing after your rod and reel. I’ve had boat tackle boxes and even some of the biggest tackle boxes. Surprisingly enough, your tackle boxes and accessories will become very personal items and you won’t want anyone rummaging thru your box of Fishing Lures and equipment.

You can’t be successful at most things unless you have the right equipment. When people think of fishing, they automatically think of rods, reels, and bait. However, you cannot underestimate the power of the fishing tackle box because it plays an huge part in the success of your fishing trips.

Many people covet their tackle boxes because they represent a lifetime of trial and error regarding what methods work for which fish. Each lure has a memory or even many memories attached to it.

This walleye fishing article is a guest article. It’s pretty good walleye info and it’s also obvious the person is from Minnesota. Lol, the walleye fishing lake that’s the walleye capital of Minnesota is Mille Lacs. I’ve fished it hundreds of times for walleyes. For many years it was known as the dead sea but after some radical new fishing rules walleye fishing is now really hot. Anyway, here’s the walleye article.

Fishing is a sport that most people have tried at least once in their lives. It seems that no matter where you live there is some type of fishing available; whether it is freshwater, deep sea, stream or pond. The walleye fishing techniques that are used vary greatly, as well as the equipment that is needed. The equipment and techniques depend upon the species that is being fished. My husband and I do a great deal of freshwater fishing. I love the action of fishing for pan fish and bass, but you cannot beat walleye fishing for the great tasting fillets.

SD fishing report and lake view real estate

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

If you’re looking for a SD fishing report you are at the right place. This SD fishing report has a forum, a blog and tons of articles on fishing.

There is a ton of great fishing in South Dakota but most people don’t realize it. They think SD just has great pheasant hunting but the fishing is as good as the hunting, if not better.

One of the things that hard to find in SD is lake view real estate. When I was looking for a house or cabin in Eastern SD I was shocked to find that with all the lakes they have their was very little real estate available. Naturally I wanted it on a good fishing lake too.

I never did find a house on a lake lot that I was interested in but I did find that there were lake lots for sale on Lake Thompson. Lake Thompson is close to both Lake Preston and DeSmet SD and it’s one of the premier lakes for fishing walleyes and perch.

In the end I got my lake view real estate but I had to build a new house on the lake lot, I was very happy when my lake home was completed and I could do a lot of fishing in SD.

If you’re looking for SD Real Estate with a view of the lake or you just want a good SD fishing report check out the two links. You will be glad you did as real estate is cheap and the freshwater lake fishing is magnificent.

Acne and Your Diet

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

For years, the common belief was diet had absolutely no effect on acne. Turns out, it may have been wrong.

Researchers believe carbohydrates with a high glycemic index, which cause glucose and insulin levels to spike, may influence the development and severity of acne. Conversely, a diet high in protein and carbohydrates with a low glycemic index seemed to improve acne breakouts.

Researchers divided forty-three males, between the ages of 15 and 25, into two groups. One group was given foods with a low glycemic index, such as whole grain breads and pasta, legumes, as well as high protein foods. The second group was fed a more “typical” teenage diet consisting of white bread, potatoes, and sugary drinks and snacks.
The results, researchers say, were astounding. After 12 weeks, the boys in the high protein-low glycemic index group showed a fifty percent reduction of acne. The results seem to suggest a link between diet and acne development.

What This Means to You

This study is intriguing, as it challenges the long-held beliefs regarding diet and acne. Interesting as the results are, they are preliminary and more research needs to be done.

So, is diet alone going to clear your acne? Probably not. However, a healthy diet will certainly improve your overall health. Instead of highly processed foods, try incorporating more whole grains (such as whole wheat bread, wheat pastas, brown rice, oatmeal, etc.) into your diet, as well as plenty of fresh vegetables, fruit, and lean protein. Limit the amount of soda, sugary snacks, and other “junk foods” whenever possible. You have nothing to lose, and a healthy body to gain. And possibly clearer skin, too.

Good Fishing Lakes Are Easy To Find

Monday, December 1st, 2008

We like to remember things that we liked with rose tinted glasses so I don’t know if my memory is distorted by time, but it seems to me that there were many more fishing lakes when I was a kid than there are now. I don’t remember having to plan out lake fishing trips. I know that my father and my grandfather handled the details, but I can’t help but think that it was simply a matter of packing up the fishing tackle, heading out to the lake, and going to work. Our fishing trips were always pretty spontaneous and impromptu, and we went lake fishing all over the state of Michigan.
Don’t get me wrong, like at the present time there were some fishing lakes that were better than others. Lake Michigan fishing, for example, was always some of the best, but you had to know what you were doing. You needed excellent fishing equipment and a good deal of strength. I remember that my dad would always have to help me reel in the bigger catches for fear of me losing my fishing rod. When I caught my first lake Michigan fish single handedly, it was a big deal in my family.

Winterizing your sailboat – a DIY checklist

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Don’t get to the point where you must start winterizing your sailboat without
considering the many critical decisions you need to make. Do you intend to haul the
boat out or leave it in the water? If you take it out of the water, where will you
keep it? And if you leave it in the water how will you protect it from ice formation
and will you be able to make regular inspections? What are the costs involved?

No matter where or how you store your boat, you’ll need to cover it and protect it
from the elements. If cost is no object you can shrink wrap the boat. Tarpaulins
don’t cost as much as shrink wrapping, but you’ll need to make more frequent
inspections. You should unstep the mast no matter how you protect the boat. The
mast can form a support for tarpaulins. I the boat is left in the water, unstepping
the mast reduces windage and strain on the rigging.

You must winterize your motor completely and correctly. Water freezing inside the
motor will cause serious damage. .All fluid remaining in the motor over winter must
be at least 50% anti-freeze to ensure it does not freeze. The heads and fresh
water system need to be drained of all water and anti-freeze introduced to prevent
damage due to water freezing in the bowl and pipes. All batteries should be
removed and stored ashore.

At sailingmates, the sailors web site there is a sailboat winterizing checklist
detailing all the work that you need to do.

Decorating With Plant Stands

Monday, May 26th, 2008

Decorating with plant stands is a great way to add unique appeal to that corner or entry area. They are an ideal way to display extra items when you’ve run out of room on your mantle or shelving is to use a well-made pedestal plant stand.

The appeal of either a living or an artificial plant is enhanced by putting it on an attractive plant stand. You can enjoy all the advantages of green plants without taking the time to care for a living thing if you use artificial plants. To add charm and character along with the support needed for your artificial plant, you should invest in a plant stand.

There are some rules to consider when buying a plant stand, whether the item you plan to showcase atop your stand is a plant or a framed family picture. The stand should enhance whatever you are putting on it. Your plants are of course the center of attention, but with the wide variety in plant stands today, your guests will be awed by both the plants and the pedestals they are resting upon.

Choose a spot where the floor is solid and level so that the plant can easily remain upright. Heavier plants need a stand that is supportive as well as appropriate for your flooring. Very plush carpet may not be right for a pedestal that is lightweight. However, if you have a hardwood floor, this base will be perfect.

Beach House Rentals

Monday, December 31st, 2007

Naturally you can find some beach house rentals for less dough. But, don’t kid yourself. They can also go much higher. Try nine grand per week during the high season, which is spring break and the summer months. Obviously these are the most desirable times to visit the beach. On the bright side, most of these beach homes are truly loaded with luxury goodness. It’s all about the spacious rooms, hot tubs and swimming pools for parties. One particular website you can check out for up-close photos is www.beachhouse.com. I will suggest browsing for beach homes in North Carolina and South Carolina. Many I’ve seen go for considerably less than what you’ll find in Florida and California.
