When the Star Wars prequels came out, I initially avoided them like the plague. I had grown up with the Star Wars trilogy, you see, and to kids of my generation it was almost sacred. Playing with Star Wars toys was one of our favorite games growing up, and the special effects and spectacular puppets and costumes in the original movie always captivated us. I did not think that I would want to even play with Star Wars toys anymore if the movie was not well done.

Well, the movies were terrible. They did not do justice to the original version of Star Wars at all. The acting was bad, the story was horribly written, and the entire thing depended almost entirely on special effects. It made me lose respect for George Lucas, but it did not ruin Star Wars toys for me. Even though the director went over to the dark side, the original stories still hold a lot of their appeal. I can still sit down and look at my Star Wars toys and feel the same sense of wonder that I had as a child. Even some of the new Star Wars toys are pretty cool, even though the movies were lousy.
