Cleaning Dryer Vents

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009

Dryer vent cleaning lowers the risk for fires associated with the appliances. Although not a highly common occurrence, the statistics surrounding fires caused by clogged dryer vents are worrisome and - given the low cost associated with ensuring that this risk can be mitigated - it is well worth the investment to keep them clean and protect your family. Apart from the safety benefits associated with dryer vent cleaning services, there are many other reasons to provide the appliance with proper maintenance.

Alliance Environmental Group, Inc. has over fifty-years combined experience and uses leading-edge technology to ensure that the inspection and cleaning of your dryer’s vents is performed right the first time. Our dryer vent cleaning services have been providing California homeowners with inexpensive and fast solutions to their needs for several decades.

Cleaning your dryer vents increases the safety of you, your family and your pets. As these appliances get older, they suffer the same sort of wear-and-tear and require the same sort of maintenance as many other types of machinery.

Not many people are aware that dryer vent cleaning actually saves energy, which serves the twofold purpose of lowering your energy bills and helping sustain the environment. So even if you are not a “green” type of person, the additional savings associated with making sure to regularly clean your dryer’s vent should be an attractive incentive.

Most dryer manufacturers will recommend having a dryer vent inspected and cleaned annually. This schedule becomes increasingly important to stick to as the appliance gets older.

Another benefit associated with dryer vent cleaning services is that your clothes will take shorter periods of time to dry. When dryer vents become clogged, it is likely that the dryer’s heat output is lessened and - therefore - it takes more time to dry clothes than it would if the vent were clean. The reduction of dry time is helpful not only from an energy savings (and thus financial savings!) perspective, but also because time is valuable and the most fleeting of resources.

How To Generate Solar Power From Home.

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009

There are many solutions to produce renewable energy.

However, most of the products are not designed to produce the electricity needed for home supply. They cost fortunes and are only usable in the corporate world.

Some companies have developed products for generating home wind power or solar power, but they cost $1,000s for only one product. And this doesn’t even include installation.

Luckily this is where we come in. Home-Made-Energy will teach you everything you need to have your own solar or wind power system for $200 or even less.

Countless of tests have been made insure that these are the most effective methods for producing heaps of energy.

Home-Made-Energy developed the plans and wrote professional instructions for the “average Joe”, with plain English words. Anyone can understand and use them. (Even a 15-year-old kid!).

And before releasing them in a guide, many test subjects were used to see if all of them can succeed in generating enough electricity to power their home. You can read more articles on this subject and learn how actually generate soar energy from home by visiting our website at My Home Made Solar Power.

Benefits of Time Management

Saturday, April 25th, 2009

An article about: Benefits of Time Management

Of course, performance management is nothing new. Although the modern understanding of the benefits of time management is a little bit different than as it was originally conceived, the concept still goes back about as far as Henry Ford and the invention of the assembly line. Back then, workers were clocked to see how efficiently they were putting together cars. Various steps were taken to improve the program constantly, resulting in less work for the same product.

Workplace Safety Representatives and Safety Leadership

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Do your safety representatives understand their role and responsability in your organization? Are they empowered to make a real difference in their workplace?

Across every industry and in every enterprise we find there are a couple of people who genuinely carry a burden of safety for their colleagues and friends. Whether by intention or through a process of volunteering the Safety Representative is a valuable but often misunderstood role in an organisation.

From our experience in the last year of around 22,000 people within the mining sector who attended one of our products, we have heard this frustration from employees of workforce and management alike. Just what is the responsibility of the safety rep and how can they be empowered to make a real difference in their workplace?

Pumalo Africa developed a Industrial Theatre workshop to address the following priorities:
* the role of the safety representative in the workplace.
* to transfer a deeper measure of understanding of the SHE objectives and company safety values
* to empower the safety representative to connect with an even wider audience.

Robin E Pullen from Pumalo Africa presents a number of Short Learning Programs in the form of seminars and experiential learning applications. Read more on the other Short Learning Programs and experiential learning workshops.

A dog clipper tips

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009

The very next night, the burglars came back and tried to break in the same door again. Unable to break the new shatterproof glass, the burglars went to another door and entered using the same method. During this second break-in the burglars took several electric dog clippers, more large dog collars, refrigerated worming medication and blades for the dog clippers. Most of the dog collars were nylon, but several large, wide leather dog collars were also taken. The second break-in caused an even larger financial loss to the business than the first.

Jeremy Lusk Crash

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

24-year old Jeremy Lusk succumbed to severe head injuries he sustained while attempting the Hart Attack backflip. Lusk successfully completed the initial leg of the trick but was unable to control his landing after taking off from a smaller ramp for the second part of the dangerous stunt. The bike pitched forward and he landed head first. His full-faced helmet was sheared on impact; it stopped his head from sliding forward with the momentum and his body flipped over. After the accident Lusk did not regain consciousness, he was in a medically induced coma till he died. His parents and wife were by his side when the end came.

Lusk, known as the Pitbull, got into trouble with the 100-foot long and 20-foot high jump when he was unable to get back on the seat after the backflip. Lusk’s sad accident comes at a time when he was enjoying his most successful year as a Motocross racer. Jeremy Lusk won a gold medal in the freestyle motocross competition at the X Games last summer at the Home Depot Center, and won a silver medal in the best trick event.

Bentley Car Chase in Los Angeles

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Police in Los Angeles are involved in a slow-speed pursuit of a Bentley. The LAPD is being led on a frustrating chase that began shortly before 8 p.m. Monday on Lankershim Boulevard in North Hollywood.

There are no results for bentley.

The driver of the $100,000 plus vehicle is wanted for assault on his girlfriend with a deadly weapon but apparently has the sense to go slow on the crowded Los Angeles freeways. The driver is doing a mere 40mph which kind of takes the rush and fun out of the whole chase thing. The chase has led the hapless officers southbound on the Hollywood Freeway then to Interstate 5, back to Hollywood Freeway and then on to Interstate 405.

Why can’t some officers rappel down a helicopter and land on the car’s roof. I mean imagine having to put up with such a long-winded chase that’s stopping the police officers from going home for the night. Mondays can be testing.

A video taken from a KCAL TV news helicopter shows that the Bentley driver has not only gotten the police cars behind him but also managed to slow down the overall traffic on the road with cars backed up for miles. If the guy is lucky the police will get to him first before some irate driver does.

Historic exhibition in Rome

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

Until 8th March, the exhibition of the Etruscans will be running and is being held at the Palace of Exhibitions at 194 Nazionale street, in Rome of course. It is the ideal opportunity to try to better understand the mysterious world of this people, the first formidable opponent of ancient Rome, who then, subdued and incorporated the people and Rome gained even greater power.

The exhibition is organized under the initiative of Regione Lazio - Department of Culture Sport and Entertainment with the direct participation of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage. This shows strong support for an important exhibition. The exhibition is divided into two parts that are about two different historical periods: the first, with the development of several Etruscan cities and their gradual differentiation from an artistic point of view but more generally cultural. The second, however, tells of the relationships of heterogeneous cities with the growing power of Rome and their relationship of mutual influence and antagonism.

The first part focuses on the description of the major Etruscan cities which were: Veio, Cerveteri, Vulci, and the famous Tarquinia.

The first (Veio) is the city of coroplastica or production of terracotta which was used to cover the roofs of buildings. In the Palazzo there’s also a reconstruction of part of the Temple of Apollo with the statues of Apollo, Latona and Heracles placed on top of the roof.

The name “Cerveteri? is mainly linked to the famous necropolis and the exhibition is based on the funerary architecture linked to the necropolis. You can then see an entire life-size tomb, which gave new life in the ceremonies of the Archaic Age, in which great importance was given to the worship of ancestors.

The exhibition about Vulci is based around monuments and sculpture in the local stone and works of the nearby town of Ischia di Castro that produced mythical animals, placed at the entrance to the tombs. Together with Cerveteri, Vulci was one of the main destinations of the major trade flows from Greece, which traded in fine ceramics, and then went on to all the other smaller cities of Etruria. Here you see large vessels and Greek style masterpieces in the form of paintings, which greatly influenced Ertruscan art.

Finally, the most famous city of all, Tarquinia. Hundreds of tombs from this city are exposed to show paintings from the early historic and Hellenistic eras, which makes it the city’s largest art gallery of works from the ancient world, from before Pompei. The tombs were discovered in the early seventies in the sacred area of Gravisca, the ancient port of Tarquinia and the discovery was crucial for the study of economy which jump started commercial relations in the Tyrrhenian Sea, testifying for the first time the opening of an Etruscan shop used mainly by Greek merchants. The church of Gravisca is re-evoked through the exhibition of many offerings of worship made by visitors and also through the virtual reconstruction of the chapel of Adonis, where they celebrated the annual event of the cycle of death and rebirth of a young hero.

Access to the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, where you can see this and other exhibitions, costs 12.5 euros and concessions are €10.

If you want to know more about the Art and History of Etrurian’s land, this exhibition is an excellent starting point. Then book an appartamento a Roma in the centre which will allow you easy access to major exhibitions. The appartamenti a Roma are a good alternative to hotels and a solution for a more family orientated and intimate choice.

The Car Navigation Systems

Tuesday, January 13th, 2009

Are you the type of person that gets lost easily when you’re driving your car to an unfamiliar location. I used to always draw a map or print out a map on the computer before embarking into strange territory. That all changed when I got a car navigation system installed in my existing car. Now I just punch in some basic information and I’m ready to go. No fuss or mess involved. That’s the kind of technology I like. You should consider the purchase of a system if you don’t have a car navigation system installed in your car.

Guitar Buyers Guide

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

In addition to a guitar buyers guide, you should probably have an experienced guitarist friend with you when you go out to buy a guitar. This is particularly true if you’re looking at used guitars. A used guitar is a great way to get started because you can get more bang for your buck. If you’re willing to put up with a few nicks and scratches, you can get a solidly professional level instruments at entry-level prices. Nonetheless, guitar buyers guides will not really tell you how to evaluate these axes. They will not teach you how to check for neck warp, verify that the action is good, or look for telltale signs of wear and tear. The best person to do that is, of course, and experience guitar player.

What Do You Really Know About International News?

Saturday, November 1st, 2008

Do you watch the nightly news? Do you feel you’re well informed of what’s happening around the world? True, there’s usually a segment devoted to international news, but don’t be fooled just because a single event of significant importance is reported. The fact is that there are many events you never hear about, but which you should make an effort to search out. In order to be responsible citizens, we all owe it to ourselves to look beyond the obvious blips on the radar. If you’d like to get an idea of what you don’t know of the scope of international news, try a new approach. Spending a single hour on the subject can be a real eye-opener. Let’s see how.

One enormous resource for international news events is found online. Events considered important often depend on where you live.

Here in the U.S., a drought in Italy doesn’t make headlines. A quick visit to an Italian news site sheds a new perspective on the issue. You’ll see how this affects the Italian farmer whose family has made a living for generations in this river valley, now slowly drying up. This drought is really a global warming issue and just a tiny fact, of interest to few. However, if you begin to search for drought-related international news items around the world, it’s easy to see there are millions upon millions of people whose livelihoods are seriously impacted by drought today. This is happening all over the world, including here in the U.S. What does this mean for our children?

Did you know that American life is different for everyone.

Monday, October 27th, 2008

The term American Life is a tricky one. If you look online, you will see all sorts of ideas about what that really is, and you may find insurance and even a radio or television show. What makes life interesting is the differences among people, and perhaps that is the key to what we call life in our country. It is also a term that evokes a feeling of belonging, and might be a good marketing tool.

Independent Music

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Many of those bands who play independent music also sell their CD online, and they can do quite well. They can have clips of their songs up for anyone to hear, and they can have video of live performance if they want. Some have a page on Myspace, and others have their own personal websites. Some have both of them that they link together. Though each band that plays independent music still have to promote, being online is a much easier way to be found by those who may want to hear what they have to offer. It also gives fans a new way to communicate with their favorite bands, and the bands can get direct and immediate feedback.
If you love independent music, you are not alone. Many find they are bored with what MTV offers, or rather doesn’t offer any more, and the radio seems to play the same tired songs all of the time. They want something new and different, and they turn to independent music. Most are not disappointed. The bands find they can reach people everywhere, and people have more options for music. Some even find that an unknown band on the other side of the world becomes their most preferred music, and they stop listening to the commercialize pop music completely.

Do You Have Music Posters?

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Some music posters are there to commemorate landmark tours or gigs. Others are taken from album covers and tie in with other merchandise, such as T-shirts. One poster has every album cover for The Beatles, making a colorful display. Certain rock venues are sacred and remembered on posters. An example is the image of The Ramones stood outside the CBGBs club in New York. The venue was the famous launch pad of many punk bands in the 1980s.
The most famous rock festival in history, the original Woodstock, produced a number of iconic music posters. The most familiar one is of the festival logo; a dove perched on the fretboard of a guitar. Other posters show Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix playing there. Tastes in music will evolve but music posters will always be in demand by the fans and a way to express their devotion.

Dense Media Separation

Monday, October 6th, 2008

Dense Media Separation (DMS) is a process where a suspension of dense powder in water is used to form a type of heavier liquid to separate mineral particles in a sink-float process. DMS of course takes place on a DMS plant. Enhancing its capacity is extremely important to every DMS plant. However, it is unfortunately easier said than done to achieve this. Below are some methods to be used when a DMS plant reaches the moment when capacity enhancement is crucial.

  • Replacing the total plant.
  • Adding a whole new module.
  • Increasing the utilization and availability.
  • Replacing it with bigger equipment.
  • Increasing the feed rate in spite of efficiency.
  • Replacing it with an alternative process.
  • Changing over to a four shift/seven days per week roster.

As could be expected, cost implications seem to vary around each of these. It is the function of the maintenance team and the plant operating team to always try and maximize the increase in utilization and availability. The following is applicable to a Dense Media Separation plant: in order for complexity to increase, total availability must decrease. Through the simplification of the flow line, it will be possible to increase utilization and availability. It will also bring forth a reduction in cost.
