The American River Flows Free
After local agencies rebuilt the riverbed around the Auburn Dam, The American River is finally flowing free after 40 years. The project is a step towards restoration of the region, and cost over $30 million. What this means for whitewater rafting enthusiasts is more recreational opportunities along the river, and also a new ‘portage’ path. Boaters will also have access to a new recreation area, and this is a lighter region compared to the Middle Fork further upstream. This area is expected to open in early spring 2008, and will encourage more people to head to the Northern Californian area for white water rafting, paddling, boating, and even canoing adventures.

I have always loved cooking beef outdoors on barbecue grills. A lot of people think that a barbecue grill is easy, and it can be. Sometimes, all you have to do is get the coals going, throw on some neat, and enjoy the results. But like anything else, barbecue grilling can be as simple or as elaborate as you want it to be.

It is fun and easy to grow a home container garden. If you follow these tips when growing vegetables, flowers or herbs you will surely come out with a green thumb. Plants need 3 basic things to survive - light, soil and water. Plants will grow vigorously when these 3 elements are present in appropriate amounts. Because most plants come with instructions, it is easy to provide the required care and components: water, light and soil.
Gardening can take many forms - container gardening, flowers or vegetables. Practicing organic gardening provides us with the best food and also keeps harmful toxins out of the environment.
Your first task is to prepare the soil and then put your seedlings in the ground, no matter what type of gardening you plan to do. Every plant has different sunlight requirements, so when you’re picking a garden spot for your seeds or started plants take the sun exposure into careful consideration. Next, make sure check the soil if rich in nutrients if you want a healthy growing vegetables. Lastly, be sure to give adequate, but not too much, water.

Do you like sleeping? Do you like camping? If you like to do both at the the same time you will need to think about good quality camping beds for your next trip. We all like those special weekend outdoor retreats to recharge our batteries and re-connect with Mother Nature. You know that heady feeling of relaxation as you shut the office door, and step out on the pavement to see the family car waiting for you to whisk you away for a weekend family camping holiday. Once you are out of the city limits you can suddenly smell that the air is cleaner, and the clutter of noise has disappeared. Pretty soon you will be arriving at your favourite camping spot for some well earned rest and relaxation (and hopefully some sleep as well).

Spring is one of the most pleasant times of year and it always gets me excited about my grass coming back to life and making a green carpet for me to put my bare feet on. However, the grass doesn’t green up without a little help from it’s owner. Lawn care is about the most important thing you can do to keep your lawn healthy and thriving. Maintenance then becomes easier over time after the right steps have been taken.

In the middle of winter, it’s hard to think about gardening, but if you are an avid gardener you are probably itching to get planting and one way you might be able to satisfy that itch is with gardening catalogs.
Catalogs are a good substitute for actually getting out and digging in the dirt and can help you plan out your garden while the snow is still on the ground. What could be better than sitting by the fire on a cold winters day with a nice cup of tea and pouring over a catalog of beautiful flowers and lush plants? You can even place an order and the plants will be delivererd to you when the time is ready to plant them!
Gardening catalogs are perfect for both beginner and experienced gardeners. Even novices can use them to get a good ideas of the plants available for their area. You can look through your catalog and even make a sketch of the plants (or cut them out and paste them on paper to get an idea of what your garden might look like with these plants planted in there.

Whether you are taking cross country motorcycle tours, or just a trip down to a relative’s house in San Fransisco, traveling across the country can be a big adventure. I have taken dozens of cross country travel trips, and each one has been different. When I was in college, it was a pretty casual thing. We would clamber into my friend’s beaten up old Ford, head out, deciding where we were going on the way there. That was it but looking back on it, it seems a very foolish thing to do. So many things could have gone wrong after all, and we took no precautions in our planning. Yet back then, we felt carefree. Cross country traveling was just a way to unwind from the semester, and we would do it every chance we had .My cross country travels have become a lot more sophisticated. You see, I am currently employed as a travel writer, and my cross country travel gives me ample fodder for my books. I was actually inspired to take up this career by a road trip that went wrong.

Whether you are entertaining adults or a group of children,it is always a great idea to have lots to do when you are having a picnic in your backyard, or anywhere else for that matter. You can fill the time talking with each other and catching up, but it is a lot more enjoyable for everyone when you have a good backyard game or two that everyone can play. These are fun, and they are also great ice breakers when people have not seen each other in a long while.
You should think about who will be coming while planning your backyard game. There are some that are good for families, some are best only for adults, and there are some that children will love more than anyone else.

When it comes to public parking lot lighting, it’s totally up to the venue and city. They have to abide by laws. Certainly any business would want to keep their parking lot lighting up-to-par, or they face the possibility of losing customers. Just to add a tip for safety, I would like to encourage everyone to be cautious of their vehicle’s surroundings when exiting and approaching it. Be certain no one is tucked away and waiting for you.

With the popularity of log homes rising, it’s no surprise that log home floor plans are in demand. When picking out log home floor plans you need to remember that the more corners you have to the home, the more expensive it will be. It’s much cheaper to build up, than out. The best deal is to keep the log home a box shape and divide it up into rooms. Or make one big room and then just a few rooms for bathroom and bedroom. Find out more on log homes at Dakota Log Homes.

I really like Smokey Mountain Knife Works knives. They are great to collect and the value really goes up over the years. I find my knives to collect online as it’s the best place to get knives that are undervalued and hard to find.

Buying an electric bird bath will increase the number of birds in your yard. Bird baths attract different types of birds in greater numbers. While a bird feeder will attract specific bird species, depending on the food provided, a bird bath attracts a wider variety of species.
You’ll want to find a shallow bird bath with a depth of no more than three inches. Commercially-made bird baths are often deeper than they should be. If your bird bath is too deep, you can still use it by putting stones into it to lessen the depth. A non-slip bottom in your birdbath will help birds keep their footing while bathing. Hot weather makes daily electric bird bath water changes more important.
You can attract more birds in your garden by adding a fountain to your bird bath. Birds naturally like the sound of falling or dripping water.
People who like to watch birds will enjoy seeing the many birds which will come for a pleasant bath in their backyard bird bath. So you will want to find a place in your garden or yard where you’ll be able to view your bird bath from one or more of your windows. If predators cannot reach your bird bath, birds will be more secure and use it more and so put it on some kind of stand or even hang it from a tree.

Installing a concrete bird bath in your garden is a great way to attract many different types of backyard birds but you have to install and care for it properly in order for it to be an attractive place for birds to bathe. One thing you need to be aware of is that bird baths need to be cleaned periodically so make sure you buy some bird bath cleaner that is not toxic to birds and a good scrub brush!
Water changes are important in your concrete bird bath and should be done frequently, or even daily during hot weather.
You will enjoy having a bird bath just as much as the birds do. So you will want to find a place in your garden or yard where you’ll be able to view your bird bath from one or more of your windows. It’s a good idea to place your bird bath on some kind of stand or hang it from a tree to make it difficult for predators to reach - if birds don’t feel safe, they are unlikely to use the bird bath.

Putting in a resin bird bath in your garden will surely attract plenty of birds. A bird bath can increase the number and types of birds that are attracted to your yard. While a bird feeder will attract specific bird species, depending on the food provided, a bird bath attracts many bird species.
Resin bird baths come in many different styles and you can get some really cute ones to enhance your garden.
You should purchase a bird bath that is no deeper than three inches. Many of the bird baths that are for sale are too deep. There’s no need to buy a new bird bath if the one you have is too deep, because you can fix the problem by adding stones in the bottom of the bird bath. A non-slip bottom in your birdbath will help birds keep their footing while bathing.
If you want the best bird bath in town, then consider adding a fountain. Birds have the tendency to get attracted towards the sound of falling or dripping water so your resin bird bath will be irresistibleness to wild birds in your area.

Your garden will become a more restful place with the relaxing tones of dog wind chimes. Wind chimes alert their listeners to changes in wind speed and direction in a delightful way. In order to garner good luck or remove negative energy, wind chimes have been used for many centuries. Wind chimes can be highly-ornate and have been used as art objects in religious facilities and homes.
We enjoy wind chimes today, because they are lovely to look at and to listen to, but our ancestors used them for a more practical purpose, that of forecasting weather. Any material that will make an ear pleasing noise can be used to make them. Because of the different materials that are used, more than one set may be located in a given area using the different tones.
A wind chime with soft, melodic tones can make your entire body feel more relaxed which helps you to meditate. They will Soothe and calm your mind withtheir resonance and vibrations. External noises that cause you to feel nervous and upset can be blocked by more positive sounds.
