When you’re raising a kitten, you need to make sure it’s fed right and has cat toys to play with. Since kittens are so active they need more nutrients so they should be fed food specifically made for them instead of adult cats. Having toys they can stay occupied with is also very important to kitten care. If you give them what they need, your kittens will live healthier and more enjoyable lives.

Potty training your puppy is important when they are young. Once they get beyond 1 year old, it is going to be much more difficult to teach your puppy potty training.
Here are some tips on how to potty train a puppy.
Teach a specific word at a time. Keep repeating that word or phrase. By doing so, it will become a command to your dog.
Mark the place where your puppy pee. Do you notice that your puppy will often go the same spot to pee. The reason is because they recognize the smell and it tells them to go back there. That means, if your puppy has pee on a spot such as a carpet, make sure to remove the odor completely. Otherwise, your puppy will pee on that spot again.

I had never given much taught into what was involved when it comes to boarding dogs. When I was a kid I didn’t have a dog, but I had always wanted one. I was envious of all the other children who had dogs, and I would head over and pet their pets whenever I could. My parents, however, hated animals. They did not like having to put up with the mess, if you get my meaning, and also they didn’t trust… read: Boarding Dogs - What Goes On Behind Closed Doors?

It’s very important that you take dog health seriously. You can look around the Net for further information, and you can come across some great opinions, but you do need to think of it as a reference. It’s likely that some of the advice you come across on some websites is not correct, and that means your best and final recommendation should be from your vet. Use what you read on some websites as a guide only, as you can get a lot from some resources, but your dog’s health is much too important to… read more: Dog Health - Don’t leave it to Chance

I can’t think of anything that requires more patience (except perhaps for raising children) then training a dog. Most people don’t have a lot of patience naturally so along with training your dog, you might have to train yourself as well.
You’ll need to find the right length of a training session for your pet and perhaps work on expanding it. You have to remember you are dealing with a dog which has the attention span of about a two year old. Different breeds and individual dogs differ in their attention span as well.
When it comes to dog behavior questions, you need to go back to nature. In the wild, dogs are pack animals. Their pack has a hierarchy. The alphas are the leaders of the pack. The omegas are passive and often behave fearfully. There are also individuals that fall in between those two extremes. If you intend to successfully train your dog, you must be the alpha in your pack. At all points, you must be training your dog. Don’t let your dog train you. Even if it feels like that is happening, you must still actually be in charge.
When giving commands, be firm, but do not yell. Do not get angry with your dog when they do not obey. Rather than becoming frustrated with your dog, persist in your practice. Also, do not let the dog become the alpha of your pack. Your goal in training should not be to stroke your ego or to feel like you have power over your dog. The goal should be to have a safer environment for your dog and your family.

The best natural dog food depends a lot on your dog’s preferences. There are basically three types of dog food.
One is the grocery store foods found in your local supermarket or gocery store. They are made from less quality products and are usually cheaper. However, for the health of your dog, I would not recommend you feed them with this.
The second type are premium dog foods. These are more expensive and found in grocery stores and pet shops. These type of dog foods contain artifical colors, flavours and chemical preservatives like in grocery store foods and I would not recommend them.
The best food for your dog are healthy dog food that provides high quality and nutritious food. There aren’t many healthy dog foods on the market but you can order them online or direct from the dog food manufacturers.

If you don’t yet have an aquarium, you must first decide what type of fish you want to keep, like freshwater fish (male bettas, fancy guppies, mollies, cichlids, eels, sharks, puffer fish, catfish, goldfish), saltwater fish (angelfish, anthias, basslets, blennies, boxfish, clownfish, damselfish, dottybacks), and you can even have an Amazon River aquarium if you like, complete with piranhas, discus fish, angel fish, and beautiful aquatic plants. A good online resource for information on keeping tropical fish and goldfish is AquariumFish.net, where fish lovers can find everything from fish to aquariums to pond supplies. A nice selection of aquariums and supplies is also featured on LiveAquaria.com.

If you are the sort of person who actively likes being with dogs, but are unhappy with the sort of line of work that you are in maybe it’s time to combine an activity that you love with a way of earning money! One of the simplest ways of doing this is to start a dog walking business. If you are unsure of what all this would entail then as with any business, it requires research: fortunately there are plenty of pet trade magazines and website that can help with this side of things.
Qualify what a dog walker does. Do you know? For example there is a great deal of difference between a pet sitter and a dog walker. Pet sitter responsibilities are based around the general domestic needs of a wide variety of species: not just dogs. A pet sitter might be required to feed, administer medication and keep the pet happy. A dog walker simply walks dogs, and cleans-up the poop of the canines in their charge. Watering and maybe administering meds can also be part of the remit.
A business, no matter how much fun, is still a business, and the legal side will also require attention. The type of business structure you intend to use needs to be researched, whether Sole Proprietor, or Limited Liability (which will protect your personal assets in the event of failure), it’s an important decision! Other areas to investigated are the legal requirements of you local area: you may need a licence, or to register your business. Of course good insurance cover should never be overlooked.
Any business will generate admin. This will involve contracts with you clients; reports on what your doing; a register of client details; vet details and pet care information; tax details. The most important are the rates you charge for your services. This can be dependant on the area where your clients live as well as what you will include in your service: for example, would you be qualified to administer meds? Therefore look at what client would require a dog walker and sort out the rates accordingly.
A dog walking business is a great idea for any individual who is fit, and hopefully, likes dogs. You will paid for doing a job you enjoy and for being in the fresh air. However, it is a business, and you should treat it as such. You should also adopt a professional attitude, and be prepared to fulfil all of your commitments, irrespective of the weather or your own circumstances. So, if you can do all of this, you could be looking at a successful and enjoyable business.
Are you considering starting a dog walking business? Discover some of the things you should think about before starting out. If you have any dog or puppy training questions too, feel free to stop by our website.

I went back to the pet store and purchased another cat collar in a beige color. The beige matched Willie’s fur very well. I put the collar on him when I came home from the store and he has never taken the collar off. I think the red was too gaudy for his refined taste. Wonka was even more of a challenge to buy a cat collar for due to her long hair. I was concerned that her fur would get matted around the collar. The clerk at the pet shop suggested a nylon collar rather than leather. I bought her collar in neon pink. She is quite a flashy kitty. She has always liked being the center of attention, so the neon pink fit her personality. She seems to enjoy wearing the collar.

As a cat owner of three, I can honestly say that my wife and I prefer collars on our cats. We keep tags on ours mainly for recognition purposes. Even though our pets stay indoors, you never know when they’ll attempt a quick slip out the front door, which happens all too often. The name and contact info are on the collar, just in case. If nothing else, this certainly offers the owner, piece of mind. A website that sells such collars is Gotags.com. Here you can find personalized cat collars of various styles and colors, which offer the cat’s name and phone number. In my opinion, this is essential when owning a pet. After all, while we enjoy playing with our pets, it is also necessary to protect them and keep them safe.

Airline approved pet carriers will keep your beloved family pet as safe as possible during the journey. Carriers must obviously be in line with the rules of your airline, but they must also be satisfactory for your pet who will be spending the flight inside of it. This way you can rest assured that they will be completely snug and safe in their carrier while en route.
When shopping for pet carriers for air travel, for your pet’s comfort choose the proper size. Space for laying down and changing positions is imperative. All airline approved pet carriers have these criteria. Your vacation could be postponed because of failure to find an airline-approved carrier ahead of time for your air travel.
Everybody knows that your luggage has a great impact on your level of mobility in the airport. Wheels on your carrier will prove to be absolutely indispensable when traveling, so include this in your purchase decision. Whether you have a St. Bernard or a Chihuahua, this makes sense. Your pet will be much more comfortable being pulled in a carrier that has wheels than they would be if you were carrying them.

Airline approved pet carriers are designed to make traveling with your dog less stressful. Most airlines require pet owners to meet several criteria when they wish to fly with their animal, so you want to be certain of what the airline requires for a pet carrier ahead of time. Figure out what specifications your pet carrier must meet before you end up sitting at the airport with a pet that they will not allow on the plane. Of course, always traveling with an airline approved carrier will save the bother of dealing with this type of situation.
Your animal will be traveling one of two ways, and this is conditional on your pet’s size. During air travel your large dog will be riding in another area of the plane, separate from the passengers. You’ll need to bring an oversized carrier that still meets airline regulations if you wish to do this. Your animal will have to wait to check in until you have given your name, address, and destination. If something goes wrong during the flight and the carrier doesn’t arrive at the same time or place as your flight, that information attached to the carrier will help you get reunited again.
Smaller dogs and cats can be brought into the passenger area of the plane as carry on luggage. You can only do this if your carrier is airline-approved. Each airline publishes the maximum carry-on dimensions allowed for luggage and pet carriers must also meet this. The safest place for the pet carrier is on the floor in front of you. This way, your pet can relax, knowing that they’re near you.

With quality fish tank lights, you can prolong the life of your tank, and get more enjoyment from watching your pets. Not only fish, but plants, do best on 12 hours of light per day. This will relax them and remind them of their habitat in the wild. If you’re worried about erratic lighting patterns, which may disturb your fish, buy a timer for your lighting system.
Light your tank with fluorescent fish tank lights for the best possible results, but be prepared to pay a little more than you would for cheap incandescent lights. If your tank gets too warm, you will lose fish - this can be a result of using incandescent lighting (including halogen lamps).
Lighting requirements for tanks with plants are different from those of a typical fish tank; plants need a full-spectrum fluorescent bulb or tri-phosphor fluorescent tubes that emit light in the red-blue-green range in the spectrum.

Your pet is a member of the family, so of course you’ll want to be sure that their safety is in good hands; that’s why you’ll want to get some good airline approved pet carriers for travel. Your pet needs a carrier that gives him leeway to move and rest, so try to find one that satisfies your pet’s requirements and those of your airline. This way you can rest assured that they will be completely snug and safe in their carrier while en route.
A good rule of thumb to remember when you are looking for one of these handy pet must-haves is that your animal must fit comfortably in it. There must be enough space for laying down and changing positions. All airline approved pet carriers have to accommodate your pet in these ways. You most likely will have to leave your pet on the ground if you show up at the airport without an airline-approved pet carrier, which means that you will be delayed in starting your holiday.
It’s common knowledge that smaller luggage is much easier to travel with. This means that when shopping for a pet carrier, you should make note of which ones have wheels for easy transport. Whether you are buying a gigantic carrier or a tiny one, wheels will help. Its a lot of work carrying your pet, why not let them ride in style in a nice wheeled pet carrier.

How do you make a new kitten from a shelter part of your family? If you do not have any other household pets, integrating a new kitten from shelters into your home is a reasonably simple matter. You will very easily make him or her a part of the family, and will naturally spend a lot of time with your kitten, bonding and may even spoil your new pet.
However, do not forget that your home is a strange new place to your new kitten from the shelter. Naturally depending on her background, she will take time to adjust and explore. Your new kitten from a shelter may have come from foster care, where care was taken only to bond her to humans.

Water is heavier than you might think, so it’s important to get a good fish tank stand for your aquarium setup. Because regular furniture, like a TV stand, might not be constructed to support the weight of your tank, it is important to purchase a stand that was made specifically for your tank, so as to avoid making a big mess.
You can buy fish tank stands in wood, metal, plastic, and more! A design that incorporates a cabinet will allow you to store your supplies right by the fish tank. You could go with a basic metal stand if you want to cut costs.
Do you view your fish tank from your couch, or while standing? Keep the viewing height in mind while shopping for your tank stand. Standard aquarium stands measure 30 inches high. For your best viewing pleasure, place the tank where it will not be obstructed by anything. To do this, measure the room and the furniture in the room. Create a floor plan where the tank is the focal point of the room.
