How To Go About Getting a Story Published

Thursday, November 20th, 2008

Any writer will tell you how thrilling it is to see your name on a byline with your first published piece. They’ll also usually tell you it took quite a while to get that big thrill. Writers are not known for their marketing skills. You may be a terrific writer, but if you don’t market your skills, it’s pretty slow going. Once you know how to go about getting a story published, it can happen fast! If you’re just starting out in your writing career, here are some pointers on the fast track to getting published. You finished your story. You revised and nitpicked until it screams perfection. After a final proofreading, you submitted your work to that well known national magazine. You’re prepared to wait a few months for a reply.
What’s wrong with this scenario? Although you followed the standard protocol, your chances of getting a story published in this magazine are probably not good. Don’t get me wrong, this does not necessarily reflect on the quality of your work. It could be that the editor is simply not interested in your topic at this time.

Literary Agents Can Help You Get Published

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Literary agents are often needed to get published. Though there are some companies that will accept submissions from writers without the use of an agent, many insist that they will not take them unless they are represented. A big reason for this is because of the sheer volume of work they get for consideration. When someone has a literary agent, the material was deemed good by that agent, and that means they are not wasting their time when going over the material. Submissions that have not been screened could be anything, and that can be frustrating when there is a lot of material and little time.

An Article about Writing a Biography!

Here is an exerpt from an article about Writing a Biography

In my college days when we were assigned to write a biography, I always believed that it was nothing that would ever come in handy later. Writing a biography paper seemed like one of those exercises merely designed to give you experience following instructions and writing clean language. Although I knew it was important to be able to look through the details of someone’s life and summarize them in some fields, I couldn’t see how it would apply to me in my professional life.

Site Rubix Makes Affiliate Marketing Easy

Site Rubix Builds Professional Websites in Minutes!

I’ve been an Internet Marketer for four years now. I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out how to make websites work.

I have purchased classes that cost $600.00 plus dollars (not proud of that one) and after four years I still have to get out the how-to-videos. If you are like me HTML is like a second language… it just doesn’t stick in my brain.

So I study and study and fiddle and fiddle and pull my hair out and take a break, then I go to all the forums and ask questions…then I wait for answers… and guess what I end up with…a crappy site. It looks like my 8 year old son built it.
