I have just attended a nightclass in cake decoration and until I went I had no idea how many cake decorating techniques there were. I always thought that decorating a cake was a pretty simple affair. When I was growing up, my mother loved to make cakes. She showed me a couple of simple designs that you can use on a cake, and I copied her designs faithfully. I can make flowers, swirls, little ice cream cones, and of course all the letters in the alphabet. I was not the most artistic cake decorator, but I knew enough to make a pretty professional looking cake.

The secret to cooking for a crowd is all about planning and anticipating as well as creative substitutions. Whether you are hosting the family reunion, a holiday event or even a huge block party, the principles of planning are always going to be the same. It can be easy to pull off a huge meal with style and still have enough energy to mingle with guests too.
Planning the Menu when Cooking for a Crowd
Your menu is probably the most important part of cooking for a crowd and will dictate the rest of the event. If possible, choose some dishes that can be made a few weeks in advance and frozen until the big day.

You don’t have to be a gourmet chef to enjoy what an indoor herb garden can offer. You probably already use many types of herbs in your foods, but you probably get them from a bottle. Though these work, nothing works as well or tastes as good as herbs straight from an outdoor or indoor herb garden. Fresh is always best, and this is no exception.

Anyone who does a lot of cooking will tell you that chicken by itself is not the tastiest meat. Steak is more intense, pork is more distinctive, and fish is more complex. Nevertheless, chicken has an advantage over all of these meats. Chicken is by far the most versatile meat there is. Turkey doesn’t compare, and even pork is left in the dust. That is why chicken recipes should be at the center of any meat eater’s menu. Where can you find Interesting Chiken Recipes ?

German food recipes have something to offer and may be undervalued. The country has regional differences and some national favorites. The main meal is taken at mid-day, although smaller lunches and bigger evening meals are increasingly popular. Breakfast usually consists of bread or bread rolls spread with jam, honey, cured meats or cheese. Bread is important to the German psyche, with 300 different kinds for sale. I was surprised when I first found out how many low carb recipes that were. You see, I have been having a huge amount of trouble losing weight. I have tried cooking with low calorie recipes, but they never filled me up. I hated being hungry of the time. You see, I grew up without enough to eat all the time. As a result, I was pretty addicted to food. I munched whenever I felt uncomfortable.

One of the most popular casserole recipes around is the green bean casserole. This is a standard for many holiday occasions. While many of these stew-like dishes are eaten as the main course, others are simply side dishes. The green bean casseroles are the kind of vegetable sides that offer a lot of flavor and character. The tuna casserole is a modern classic that never goes out of style. This inexpensive dish typically consists of a cream base, with tuna, of course. Some like to add rice to the mix while others prefer the traditional pasta version. Either way, these casserole recipes are winners each and every time.

Wine has become one of the most popular alcoholic beverages, after beer, in the recent years. Wine has the unique quality to add enjoyment to any meal if paired appropriately.
There are many types of wine to match every meal and even desserts, and one such wine is the ice wine.
Ice Wine
Ice wine is produced in wintertime at freezing temperatures. In the case of ice wine the grapes are not harvested at the usual time but instead left to absorb the fall sun and collect as much sugar as possible in due course.
All grapes are covered before the first frost falls to be protected until almost mid winter when the harvest is picked and brought in for producing the ice wine.

As with most dietary questions, vegans are split on the issue of dairy products–not so much on the question of whether or not they are acceptable, but instead for what reasons they should not be consumed.
All vegans (or at least true vegans) abstain from consuming dairy products. Some do so for nutritional reasons; others abstain for ethical reasons.
Those who do it for nutritional reasons cite a range of health problems related to the consumption of dairy products, including high cholesterol. Many also have a problem digesting lactose or have a blood-iron or diabetic problem related to milk protein, casein.

Pili candy in Sorsogon. The name of the province tells of a story of a group of Spaniards lost in the relenting wilderness of the Bicolandia. Coming across a raging river, they asked—with much effort—a native where they could find the nearest settlement. The native answered “sosogon” and pointed to the river. From then on, history and legend intertwined and facts got lost. One could only surmise if the Spaniards did find the settlement. Nevertheless, they could very well be the first tourists to a majestic land of volcanic terrain, marshy undergrowth, orchid-festooned woods and white sand beaches!
