Breakfast Smoothie Free Healthy Recipes

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Almost all of us are beginning to focus on eating healthier. Our doctors are always telling us about the virtues and results of a healthy diet. Eating right now can save us from developing a lot of health conditions as we age, keep us looking younger longer and stay trim and fit. How can you argue with that? Naturally, you also want the food to taste as good as it looks. Can you have all this in each meal you serve? Sure! So where do you get the recipes for these marvelous meals? Here are two excellent venues in which you’ll find an abundance of free healthy recipes your family and guests will applaud.

Our first source is your neighborhood supermarket. Surely you’ve seen those racks of recipe cards, conveniently placed by the meat counter or produce aisle. There are usually dozens and dozens of individual free, healthy recipes for you to browse as you ponder “What’s for dinner tonight?” How do you know they’re healthy? So long as the ingredients don’t contain major amounts of fat or rich, buttery sauces, it’s a safe bet that these recipes are generally good for you. These postcard-size, free, healthy recipes have a photo of the finished dish on the front and the recipe printed on the back. The supermarket managers are up to date on the current trend towards healthy eating. After all, they want you to buy their products and make that recipe, so you’ll rarely find recipes that would have your doctor wagging her finger at you.

America has a pretty fast paced culture in which everyone’s constantly on the go or in a rush. We drive around in cars, we take our food to go, we get impatient if we have to wait more than 2 seconds for a web page to load, and now we don’t even eat breakfast anymore, as in sitting down for the most important meal of the day. Many people actually skip breakfast, or they wolf it down instead of taking their time. Breakfast used to be laid out in bowls, baskets and plates but now they come in the form of a bar or a bottle. The breakfast smoothie in particular has become a popular choice, maybe because you don’t have to go through the trouble of chewing it.

Guide To Basic Cooking

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

My favourite cooking equipment is the slow cooker is a fabulous tool for producing dishes with very basic cooking skills and is so easy to use. So simple is the preparation, all you need to do is toss the ingredients into the pot – in the correct order – and walk away until dinner time that’s i love it so much. The slow cooker is the champion of those with the most basic cooking skills. Coarsely chop a couple of onions and whatever veggies you want and plop your roast, chicken or stew meat on top. Pour a cup of broth over all and the seasonings of your choice on top of the meat. Set the cooker on medium. Do this in the morning and come home to a fragrant, delicious meal. Tired after work and the dinner is served can’t be easier than this. Serve it up and freeze the remainder in portions for future meals. You can make soups, beans, lentils, all sorts of meats the possibilities are endless.

How To Prevent And Cure Hangover – Best Natural Hangover Cures

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

People have been drinking for ages. Patrick McGovern in his book Ancient Wine: The Search for the Origins of Viniculture stated that beer may have preceded bread as a staple, and the discovery of late Stone Age beer jugs has established the fact that purposely fermented beverages existed at least as early as c. 10,000 BC. In Egypt, both beer and wine were deified. God Osiris, who according to their beliefs invented beer, was worshiped throughout the country, and the beverage was brewed in the home on an everyday basis. Egyptian even buried their deceased with wine and beer supply for their use in the after-life. Our ancestors used alcohol as a remedy for many illnesses from sore throat to bladder infections to kidney stones. Because of the water contamination, alcohol used to be safer drink than water for ages. I guess it is safe to assume that we are genetically predisposed to drink. But in order to prevent hangover we have to drink smart. Here, several things you can do to prevent hangover or at least to make it lighter.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Recipe

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

This sweet potato recipe strikes the diner as a gourmet upscale take on the plain dish. Although the basic preparation is the same as the traditional sweet potato recipe, there are two additional secret ingredients. They are orange juice and orange zest. Simple as that. You cook and mash your sweet potatoes as usual. I prefer that they are as smooth as possible, but that’s just my preference. Once they’re mashed, add one cup of orange juice and a tablespoon of orange zest to a batch that serves eight people. Mix thoroughly, add your marshmallows and pop it in the oven for the usual time. The result is delicious. As for the orange juice, I prefer the fresh-squeezed, no pulp version that’s sold in a carton.

Deep Fry Turkey Instructions Key To Deep Fried Turkey Success

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

If you’re in charge of preparing the holiday turkey dinner for Thanksgiving or Christmas (or heaven forbid, both!) and you have decided to try deep frying the turkey for an interesting change of pace and flavor, then you will be very interested in my latest post that covers deep fry turkey instructions as they are critical to your success with this method of cooking a turkey.

Turkey is a traditional holiday meal main course with an equally traditional method of cooking that uses the oven, usually for many hours depending on the size of the bird. But some folks like to knock tradition off its heels every once in a while and want to try something new, even in how they prepare their turkey. One way that’s getting more popular is the deep fry method of turkey cooking. Deep fried turkey is done in a turkey deep fryer and you must be sure to read, understand, and follow the turkey fryer instructions to be completely safe while making your scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner.

You will also discover that one key preparation step you must do prior to deep frying your turkey is to make sure the bird, if frozen, is completely thawed before you start deep frying it in hot peanut or canola oil. As all my posts center around clean funny video clips, this one does as well and it offers a funny take on one strange, perhaps disgusting, way to thaw your turkey! It actually is pretty hilarious.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and remember, before you do any turkey deep frying, get a good grip on those deep fry turkey instructions for a great tasting holiday meal!

Great fun for the kids

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Bread dough ornaments can be tiny or life-sized – up to a point! After a certain size, the material becomes too unwieldy to be practical. However, you can make a loaf of perpetual bread, which makes a nice centerpiece and conversation piece for the dining room table. You can form the dough just as you would a real loaf. Try a braided loaf, which after baking, you can coat with a clear glossy acrylic and tie with a pretty red ribbon. You can even place it in a bread basket, which is good for a laugh when someone picks it up to take a bite!

Tabasco Sauce Works On Just About Everything

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

If you find that you love the taste of Tabasco sauce, you can find ways to add it to your menus without just dousing a meal once it is done. You can find subtle ways to add it to recipes. You may already use it when you make chili, but you may also find that you can add some Tabasco sauce when you want to add a little kick to your beef stew. It might work well with your ribs, and you can always add a little to your homemade pizza sauce to see if you like the finished results or not.

You can even come up with new recipes for Tabasco sauce. If you like hot wings, otherwise known as Buffalo wings, you can try to use that taste in new foods. Think about making hot wing pizza by using a Tabasco based sauce for your pizza and using chunks of chicken on the top of your cheese. It may be very good. You can also try using Tabasco sauce mixed with butter as a dip for many other types of chicken that you may serve to your family. If you look around, you may even find cookbooks and recipes that show you how to use this yummy sauce in a bunch of new ways.

Cake Decorating Techniques

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I have just attended a nightclass in cake decoration and until I went I had no idea how many cake decorating techniques there were. I always thought that decorating a cake was a pretty simple affair. When I was growing up, my mother loved to make cakes. She showed me a couple of simple designs that you can use on a cake, and I copied her designs faithfully. I can make flowers, swirls, little ice cream cones, and of course all the letters in the alphabet. I was not the most artistic cake decorator, but I knew enough to make a pretty professional looking cake.
