How To Prevent And Cure Hangover - Best Natural Hangover Cures

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

People have been drinking for ages. Patrick McGovern in his book Ancient Wine: The Search for the Origins of Viniculture stated that beer may have preceded bread as a staple, and the discovery of late Stone Age beer jugs has established the fact that purposely fermented beverages existed at least as early as c. 10,000 BC. In Egypt, both beer and wine were deified. God Osiris, who according to their beliefs invented beer, was worshiped throughout the country, and the beverage was brewed in the home on an everyday basis. Egyptian even buried their deceased with wine and beer supply for their use in the after-life. Our ancestors used alcohol as a remedy for many illnesses from sore throat to bladder infections to kidney stones. Because of the water contamination, alcohol used to be safer drink than water for ages. I guess it is safe to assume that we are genetically predisposed to drink. But in order to prevent hangover we have to drink smart. Here, several things you can do to prevent hangover or at least to make it lighter.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Recipe

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

This sweet potato recipe strikes the diner as a gourmet upscale take on the plain dish. Although the basic preparation is the same as the traditional sweet potato recipe, there are two additional secret ingredients. They are orange juice and orange zest. Simple as that. You cook and mash your sweet potatoes as usual. I prefer that they are as smooth as possible, but that’s just my preference. Once they’re mashed, add one cup of orange juice and a tablespoon of orange zest to a batch that serves eight people. Mix thoroughly, add your marshmallows and pop it in the oven for the usual time. The result is delicious. As for the orange juice, I prefer the fresh-squeezed, no pulp version that’s sold in a carton.

Deep Fry Turkey Instructions Key To Deep Fried Turkey Success

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

If you’re in charge of preparing the holiday turkey dinner for Thanksgiving or Christmas (or heaven forbid, both!) and you have decided to try deep frying the turkey for an interesting change of pace and flavor, then you will be very interested in my latest post that covers deep fry turkey instructions as they are critical to your success with this method of cooking a turkey.

Turkey is a traditional holiday meal main course with an equally traditional method of cooking that uses the oven, usually for many hours depending on the size of the bird. But some folks like to knock tradition off its heels every once in a while and want to try something new, even in how they prepare their turkey. One way that’s getting more popular is the deep fry method of turkey cooking. Deep fried turkey is done in a turkey deep fryer and you must be sure to read, understand, and follow the turkey fryer instructions to be completely safe while making your scrumptious Thanksgiving dinner.

You will also discover that one key preparation step you must do prior to deep frying your turkey is to make sure the bird, if frozen, is completely thawed before you start deep frying it in hot peanut or canola oil. As all my posts center around clean funny video clips, this one does as well and it offers a funny take on one strange, perhaps disgusting, way to thaw your turkey! It actually is pretty hilarious.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and remember, before you do any turkey deep frying, get a good grip on those deep fry turkey instructions for a great tasting holiday meal!

Great fun for the kids

Saturday, October 11th, 2008

Bread dough ornaments can be tiny or life-sized - up to a point! After a certain size, the material becomes too unwieldy to be practical. However, you can make a loaf of perpetual bread, which makes a nice centerpiece and conversation piece for the dining room table. You can form the dough just as you would a real loaf. Try a braided loaf, which after baking, you can coat with a clear glossy acrylic and tie with a pretty red ribbon. You can even place it in a bread basket, which is good for a laugh when someone picks it up to take a bite!

Online Recipes Will Reveal The Secrets

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Let’s say the dish that won your heart is a Cajun Gumbo which you had the pleasure of tasting in New Orleans. Gumbo is a dish with an unmistakable flavor, but you cannot figure out what it is that makes it unique. Be an online recipe detective. Search on ‘gumbo broth technique’. Add the so-called ‘Holy Trinity’ of veggies to the roux and stir. Add chicken or seafood broth and your meats or seafood. This is the essence of gumbo. Thyme, gumbo file (powdered sassafras), and cayenne are the must-have seasonings.

Cake Decorating Techniques

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

I have just attended a nightclass in cake decoration and until I went I had no idea how many cake decorating techniques there were. I always thought that decorating a cake was a pretty simple affair. When I was growing up, my mother loved to make cakes. She showed me a couple of simple designs that you can use on a cake, and I copied her designs faithfully. I can make flowers, swirls, little ice cream cones, and of course all the letters in the alphabet. I was not the most artistic cake decorator, but I knew enough to make a pretty professional looking cake.

Low Carb Recipes

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

I was surprised when I first found out how many low carb recipes that were. You see, I have been having a huge amount of trouble losing weight. I have tried cooking with low calorie recipes, but they never filled me up. I hated being hungry of the time. You see, I grew up without enough to eat all the time. As a result, I was pretty addicted to food. I munched whenever I felt uncomfortable.
