The American River Flows Free
After local agencies rebuilt the riverbed around the Auburn Dam, The American River is finally flowing free after 40 years. The project is a step towards restoration of the region, and cost over $30 million. What this means for whitewater rafting enthusiasts is more recreational opportunities along the river, and also a new ‘portage’ path. Boaters will also have access to a new recreation area, and this is a lighter region compared to the Middle Fork further upstream. This area is expected to open in early spring 2008, and will encourage more people to head to the Northern Californian area for white water rafting, paddling, boating, and even canoing adventures.

That is when I saw it: an ad for cooking tours in Spain. I had never heard of a cooking tour before, and I immediately wrote the company to request more information. What I found out surprised and delighted me. Cooking holidays are the perfect getaway for people like me.You see, they knew that when I came back from my cooking holidays, I would have a lot of new recipes to cook for them. They figured that was probably worth not seeing me for a few weeks!

Truth be told, while my family has generally lived within walking distance of the beach, and spent tons of happy hours at the beach every year, it’s still a thrill to go away on beach vacations elsewhere. Anyone else might be bored of the beach now, but no, I realise I’m still as drawn to the seashore as when I was young.
Probably the most outstanding amongst all the vacations on the beach I’ve taken was on our honeymoon, when we planned a celebration getaway to Bermuda.

Truth be told, even though my family has mostly dwelt close to the sea, and thus enjoyed oodles of happy hours at the beach during the year, it’s always nice to go on summer beach vacations elsewhere. Anyone else might be fed up with the seashore by now, but I think that I’m still as much in love with the shore as when I was a kid.
Possibly the most relaxing out of all the vacations on the beach I’ve ever had was on my anniversary, when we arranged a special vacation to Hawaii.

Have you got ideas for this summer? You can see that snow is falling where you live so the main thing on your mind is the kids getting frostbite. Trust me, summertime will soon be due so it’s time to get ready for a family vacation.
My family? Oh, we’re headed to Minneapolis. Tourism is family-friendly in that area, and you’ve a choice of lakes to relax by, and there’s always the excellent shopping opportunities.
And if antique stores are a favorite of your family, Minnesota has lots and lots available.

One good thing with Amerihost resort inns is that loyalty is duly rewarded with the company’s loyalty points scheme. These points can be redeemed against free stays in any branch in the country or for free air miles. They also can be used towards resort vacations, as gift certificates and for products, such as electronic goods, appliances and sports goods. From experience I know that a lot of hotel chains tend to be impersonal but the Amerihost Resort inns pride themselves on being smaller and therefore, able to achieve a more intimate and welcoming ambience.

The dream and the desire to have something that everyone else has is much stronger than the actual will to play with it once the item has come home. It’s a lot like anything else. Sometimes the chase is more exciting than the end result.
Her Barbie Dream House was a lot of fun, but I think I would have lost interest in it rather quickly. Though I can’t really say that I had a very short attention span, I did prefer to play outside. I would have loved to have it, but I suspect it would have gone unused for long periods of time. In fact, I have a suspicion that my younger brother might have gotten more use out of it than I did. I preferred to be outdoors, and the Barbie Dream House is not really something you want to haul in and out of the house to play with each day.

David Copperfield is probably the most famous magician alive today and probably one of the most brilliant magicians in history. He often performs in shows that attract thousands of people willing to pay very high prices for the tickets to his shows. David Copperfield was always attracted to magic, and he began at a very young age to develop fantastic stunts to mesmerize his audiences. He has even taught magic at the university level. Copperfield is more than a magician. In the advertisements for his shows, he is often called an illusionist rather than a magician. The audiences that go to the shows usually find that he is even more than an illusionist and a magician. He is a performer and a storyteller as well.

Driving an antique car rental for the first time was one of the scariest experiences of my life. It was like standing on the edge of a cliff? You know there is very little chance that you will fall – how often, after all, do you suddenly fall for no reason. But nevertheless, it doesn’t matter how much you try to convince yourself, you are scared as hell of falling. Antique car rentals are kind of like that. I haven’t been in an accident in years, but as soon as I was renting vintage cars, I was suddenly frightened of every driver that I saw and I swear to God I couldn’t even trust myself!

Naturally you can find some beach house rentals for less dough. But, don’t kid yourself. They can also go much higher. Try nine grand per week during the high season, which is spring break and the summer months. Obviously these are the most desirable times to visit the beach. On the bright side, most of these beach homes are truly loaded with luxury goodness. It’s all about the spacious rooms, hot tubs and swimming pools for parties. One particular website you can check out for up-close photos is www.beachhouse.com. I will suggest browsing for beach homes in North Carolina and South Carolina. Many I’ve seen go for considerably less than what you’ll find in Florida and California.

Beastie Boys is a hip hop musical group from New York City, consisting of Michael “Mike D” Diamond, Adam “MCA” Yauch and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz.
They started out as a punk rock group in 1979 and have, since their switch to hip hop and release of their debut album Licensed To Ill (1986), enjoyed international critical acclaim and commercial success. They are well-known for their eclecticism, jocular and flippant attitude toward interviews and interviewers, obscure cultural references and kitschy lyrics, and performing in outlandish matching suits.
They are one of the longest living hip hop acts and continue to enjoy commercial and critical success in 2007, more than 20 years after the release of their debut album. The three main members of the Beastie Boys are of Jewish heritage.

30 Seconds to Mars (or Thirty Seconds to Mars) is an alternative rock band from Los Angeles, California featuring actor Jared Leto as the lead vocalist.
Created in 1998 by Jared Leto and his brother, Shannon, 30 Seconds to Mars began as a small family project. Things began to speed up quickly, and Matt Wachter later joined the band as bassist and keyboard player. After a small revolving door of guitarists (as the band’s first two guitarists, Kevin Drake and Solon Bixler, left the band due to issues primarily related to touring), the three auditioned Tomo Milicevic to round out the band’s roster.

Sick Of It All (SOIA) is a New York Hardcore band formed by brothers Lou Koller (vocals) and Pete Koller (guitar), Armand Majidi (drums) and Rich Capriano (bass) in 1984.
Hailing from Tarrytown in Westchester County, NY, Sick of It All was formed alongside New York hardcore bands Straight Ahead, and Rest In Pieces which both featured Majidi and current Sick Of It All bass player Craig Setari. Majidi joined up with the Koller brothers and Rich Capriano to record the Sick Of It All demo in 1986, after original bass player Mark McNielly and drummer David Lamb left. The band began to play Sunday afternoon matinees at renowned venue CBGB’s, and soon after released a self-titled 7″ on Revelation Records (which was later re-issued on the tenth anniversary of its release, in 1997).

If you live in the United States, you may neglect to think of our neighbor to the North when you are thinking about getting away from it all for a holiday. Though you may not want to go to Canada when you want a warm vacation on the beach in the middle of winter, there are plenty of great reasons why you should consider Canada holidays when you want to go out of the country. You can always get there so much easier than flying over the ocean, and you will still be leaving your home country to explore a new one. Some things will be familiar, and others will be different.

Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, that formed in 1981. Although initially influenced by 1980s glam metal/hard rock bands, thrash metal acts such as Slayer and Metallica as well as traditional metal bands such as Black Sabbath would prove to be influential in the band’s significant change in musical direction at the end of the 1980s. From there, Pantera became a key formulator of the groove metal (post-thrash) subgenre of heavy metal music.
It would not be until nine years after forming that Pantera saw its first piece of commercial success in its major label debut, Cowboys from Hell. From there, Pantera became one of the most celebrated heavy metal bands of the 1990s. Despite the generally cold reception of the band’s first four albums, critics have lauded Pantera’s style thereafter; Jason Birchmeier of the All Music Guide considers Pantera to be “arguably the greatest metal band of ’90s and … one of the greatest and most influential metal bands ever.” The band has received accolades such as ranking 45 on VH1’s list of the “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” and fifth on MTV’s “Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All-Time”.

There are many Las Vegas events that you don’t hear about in other parts of the country.
Some of these are simply smaller versions of the more typical Las Vegas events: Local lounge singers, chorus girls, and the like…
Other times, however, interesting independent music acts come through at the last minute. You can find Las Vegas concerts with any style of music that you like, from rock to rap to classical. A lot of these Las Vegas events are not very well publicized nationally, so the only way to find out about them is to look them up once you get to Vegas.
