Student Discounts

Monday, August 13th, 2007

There were other restaurants that offered student discounts, and there were also some book stores and entertainment venues that offered these as well. Though we never had a lot of extra money, we always had a lot of extra things we could do thanks to the student discounts. This gave us cheap and exciting things to do when we needed a break from study and watching television. Even the zoo and the local aviary had a discount that we could use by showing our student ID.

Anyway, let’s talk finances. As I mentioned before, college can be pricy. You will most likely need to apply for student loans immediately. You’ll never get the financial assistance you need. By this time, all who applied for student loans earlier will be getting their funds.

How To Use Sample School Essays Properly

Monday, August 13th, 2007

I have been teaching high school English for about a decade now, so I have seen pretty much everything there is to see in the field. I admit that I have seen teenagers download school essays, but I have also had students who use them for legitimate purposes. The thing is, in modern education we don’t really teach essay writing correctly. Teenagers are expected to write a school essay when they have only read a few essays in their lives. They don’t know how to do it. Some of them are good at handing the teacher what he or she wants, but few of them really understand the technique of writing a school essay. This is where online essays can be really useful.

School Bullying - How To Recognize and Prevent

Monday, August 13th, 2007

Kids who are terrorized by bullies are at greater risk of depression, violence, and lifelong emotional problems. Tragically, the thing that has drawn the most attention to school bullying lately is the phenomena of school shooting. Up until recently, teachers would often ignore school bullies because their victims would rarely retaliate.

Financial Aid For School

Monday, August 13th, 2007

This seems like a much better system than when I went to college. Back then you had to fill out the financial aid packets for each school. It is so much more convenient to fill out the financial aid for school one time.  Our son is only one grade behind our daughter. The guidance counselor said that when it comes time to fill out his papers we only need to do an addendum to the papers we are filling out for our daughter. The aid was also increase at that time because of having two children in college. It does not matter if they are in the same college or not. This is great news. I remember that I did not have a choice of which university I went to because I had to go to the same one my sister did in order to have financial assistance.

School Summer Programs

Monday, August 13th, 2007

No one wants to go to school summer programs. Perhaps summer school tutoring is what they need, but it is no students idea of fun. Having worked in a school summer tutoring program, I know what it is like. Kids who we work with all year – kids who love us – come in during the summer and do everything they can to let us know they don’t want to be there. I don’t blame them, and I don’t give them a hard time about it, but it is important for them to get work done. After all, summer school classes are there for a reason. For some kids, they aren’t a punishment – they are a necessity.

Teen Relationship Problems Help

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

I am a younger teacher – only 26 – so teens see me as practically a peer even though I am 10 years older. I try to lend my ear and give the best teen relationship advice that I can, but it can be pretty tricky. After all, as an authority figure and a teacher, I am in a very difficult position.  Fortunately, most of the teens are aware of the position I am in when I am asked for teen relationship advice.

Sunday School Lessons

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

I remember many of the Sunday School lessons I had as a child. Most of them were very generic and they had a great message. However, I do know some places are very radical, and I wonder if it is smart to expose children at ages 3 and 4 to the teachings of someone like that. There are many great churches, and I have no problems with them, but there are some that are just so off the wall you wonder if they have ever read the Bible at all. To me, these Sunday School lessons are akin to brain washing.

Southern Colleges

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

As with many Universities, some southern colleges will be difficult to get into. Duke is a private school with a stellar reputation. Maybe you’re seeking southern colleges that offer outstanding medical programs. Let me tell you, Duke University is the one for you. I’m not going to sugar-coat it; this is one of the more expensive southern colleges, no doubt. So if you do yearn for an education at this reputable University, I suggest you seek scholarships and financial aid. A common route of many students is to transfer. Start with two years at a community college and later transfer into one of the southern colleges of your choice.

Private Universities

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

The reason I always recommend local universities, if possible, concerns in-state tuition. If you attend a college and already reside in that state, you’re much better off financially. Not only could you possible live with your parents, but you could also take full advantage of in-state tuition. Just by residing in that state, tuition fees are in your favor. You’d be amazed what universities charge out-of-state students. Since I attended a university outside of my home state, I actually went there and lived for a year before entering school just so I could receive in-state benefits. It’s much less expensive this way. And as far as private universities such as Duke in Durham, North Carolina goes; we’re talking even more money. Not only are they very difficult to get into, but tuition is horrendous.
