Clover, the biggest dairy company in South Africa, distributes over 1000 product lines that are grouped into product categories. The company’s distribution is done by a fleet of refrigerated trucks. Its central distribution centre is in Johannesburg from where products are transported to regional Distribution Centres (DCs). Clover management wanted to determine if, by following a certain delivery policy, enough products could be delivered to DCs at Pietersburg in the Northern Province and Kimberley in the Northern Cape in time to satisfy demand. They also wanted to determine the minimum stock levels at the two DCs to ensure minimum sales losses. Arena® simulation software was used to analyze the viability of Clover’s new distribution concept and to establish the minimum stock levels for different product categories at the DCs. The number of docking bays at all DCs was taken into account as a possible constraint.
The minimum stock levels of the different product categories at the Pietersburg and Kimberley DCs were first determined by assuming infinite stock levels at the Central DC in Johannesburg. By taking into account real life constraints (e.g. actual sales figures), the Arena model determined minimum stock levels, avoiding sales losses at the two DCs and establishing the stock levels at the Central DC. Additionally, the Pietersburg DC was planning to expand its facility, so the model’s calculation of available storage space was especially valuable. More importantly, simulation assessed the viability of a new distribution concept before a costly implementation.Read more on Simulation Software on the Analista website.

I’d like to find one review, just one, that doesn’t completely rave about how Microsoft Office is the most perfect office suite on the planet, has always been, and always will be. There are certainly competing products, WordPerfect Office, StarOffice and Lotus Symphony for example, But it is still Microsoft’s Office that wins all the way. The competition couldn’t even compete with Office in one area, like the popular Word. Until now. Anyone who uses Word 2007 would notice that the program defaults to saving documents in a .docx file format – the x in there stands for XML. And in XML lie all the problems. A tiny software company called i4i sued Microsoft for plagiarizing its programming work to give Word its XML capability, and it won.

Are you aware of the benefits of a computer network for your business? A reliable Cape Town network installations technician will be able to assist you with setting up a computer network – this will improve the overall performance of your business.
A computer network simply refers to a group of two or more computers that are interconnected and therefore able to communicate with each other. Below are a few possible benefits of a computer network for your business:
- Connected computers are able to share resources like printers, scanners, drivers and so forth with each other
- Employees can easily transfer files from one computer to another
- Computers on the network can connect to the internet through a single line rather than using a separate connection for each computer. This could significantly reduce internet connection costs. Keep in mind, however, that the single line connection would need to be a fast enough to accommodate all computers on the network
- It is possible to access data stored on another computer on the network. Employees can even run programs that are not installed on their own computer.
The fact that multiple computers on a network can exchange information, as well make use of the same printer, scanner and internet connection, is clearly beneficial for many businesses. If you would like to experience the benefits of a computer network, simply call a professional Cape Town network installations company for assistance.

You are going to find that learning Microsoft Word is much like learning other types of word processing software. This is the basics of what Word does anyway. You use this software to write letters or other text documents, and then you can also use it to modify it in any way that you want.
Word is automated
Learning Microsoft Word can be done simply by using it. Once you start typing, as mentioned above, you are going to see a few things that the program does automatically. These basics are important and also make your life so much easier. If you misspell something, the program will underline it. You can either fix it on your own, or you can use the spell check option.
Save often
Other basics of learning Microsoft Word include how to save, print, and email you document when you are done with it. If you are smart, you will go through all of the options you can find under the ‘file’ option on most versions of Microsoft Word before you do anything else.

The Billiton Group of Companies is South African based and comprises aluminium smelters, nickel operations, base metal mines, and coal mines. One of Billiton’s South African smelters produces a range of different primary aluminium products that are sold in the South African domestic market. The studs used in the smelting process at this facility are sent to the Stud Repair Workshop when they need to be repaired. However, the Stud Repair Workshop was not optimizing throughput, so a project was implemented to improve the Workshop’s layout. For the Billiton Group, Arena® simulation software developed the proposed layout. Read more on how simulation software was used Optimizing Throughput at an Aluminum Smelting Operation.

What you can find is that the software for virus scan that you have can run so often and with so much memory that your machine slows down and you can not do anything. Pages will not load when you are online, and programs freeze. If that is happening to you, try to make a few changes before you go out for different virus scan software. You have to control when your software runs. Some can run in the background all of the time, but that can bog down your machine. You have to be sure it is running when it is needed the most and otherwise, not using up a lot of your resources. It should always check attachments and anything that is going to be saved to your computer from the Internet.

National Petroleum Refiners of South Africa (NATREF) is part of Sasol Oil. NATREF needed a way to more effectively manage such aspects of the plant as: shutdown scheduling of individual sub-plants; how to react on sudden demand changes due to market forces; and indications of possible capacity constraints or additional requirements. NATREF’s drive for continuous improvement in throughput and refinery efficiency led to the initiation of a project during which a simulation model was developed using Arena® simulation software. For NATREF, the simulation model performed shutdown planning and transfer capacities between units and evaluated parameters. Read more on simulation software as used by Analista.

My computer is almost five years old, which means that I’m way overdue for an upgrade. This time around, however, I’m not just going to walk into an electronics store and grab the first un I see on the shelves like I usually do. Those computers always come jam-packed with extra programs that I eher don’t need or can purchase at lower prices somewhere else. Instead, I’m planning to build my own computer and then buy software online so I have complete control over what goes into my machine. I know a lot of people who prefer to buy software online instead of from regular stores because of the tremendous savings offered by web retailers.

On the other hand, if you want to go into detail and save everything that you find, even if it is just a lead, the best genealogy software for you is going to be something you buy. Don’t worry though, the cost is never that bad and you can learn to use it quickly. The best genealogy software is going to be the type that is the easiest to use and the one that holds the most information in the most organized way. That sounds like a tall order, but it is something that most packages can offer you. You can look for recommendations online, or you can see what others are using. A simple search can bring up some that you can download from the Internet, or leads as to where you can go out and buy the physical package that you can take home and install on your computer.

How much easier would pay per click advertising be if you could track the actions of all of your website visitors? Knowing how much time each Web surfer spent on your affiliate website would go a long way towards figuring out which keywords and landing pages are working. Now, there’s a PPC tracking software that will allow you to predict what web pages and keywords are working within 100 visits instead of 100 sales. Check out this Affiliate Prophet review to see how it works.

It has never been easier to make your own free websites than it is today. It is really simple. If you don’t believe me, try MySpace. All you have to do is log in, create an account, and you can make a free website within a few minutes. Even if you have never programmed in HTML before, barely understand the Internet at all, or don’t know what you want to do with your website, you can still make a free website very quickly. Not only will you have your own webpage, but you will have a free website. This is pretty cool for a lot of purposes.
If you need to make a website for business purposes, there are tools that you can use that will give you better results than many of the free website programs. Nowadays, there is a lot more website design software available than ever before. Any of these website design software programs will aid you in developing a website. They all have different features, and it is too much to get into right now, but fortunately most website design software has a trial version available. This means that you can download them for free and use them for a limited time to get a feel for what particular website design software will do for you. Give it a try, do some research, and see how it works. You might be surprised with the results you get. It will be worth the work you put into it, and you might come out knowing a little more about how the web works.
