Samsung LN40b530 Review

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

Do you need a practical solution to your old TV? This Samsung LN40b530 review will tell choice details that you must know why you should choose this product. The price is fantastic for this television because it actually hits the mid-range level, so cost-conscious buyers can choose this without second thought. A member of the 5 series from Samsung, it may not come as very impressive but it’s filled with incredible specs that you won’t be able to say no to it.

It’s a very nice size at 40 inches, really good to place in the small living room or the bedroom. Plus it’s equipped with a gaming mode so you’ll get a bigger screen to see your computer games come to life. Hook it up to a PC theater system and you’ll have a big screen monitor in a snap! You can actually play super fast games on this TV. But on top of all that, it’s a high definition TV that carries a 6000:1 contrast ratio so you’ll see that blacks are really black and whites are brighter. With the shiny black bezel and the matte, no glare screen, pictures look very, very good!

Upgrade your life with the Samsung 40b530!

New LG Blu-ray Players For 2010

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

LG’s new Blu-ray line-up for 2010 caters to all budget levels, from the entry model BD550 to their flagship BD590. The BD550 features a sleek crystal-edge design, smooth 1080p 24/60hz high-def video and high resolution 192khz surround sound for an immersive home entertainment experience. The BD590 has new features compared to last year’s highly successful BD390. A small change is that for the new LG players, the latest software for streaming from Netflix will be included.

The new LG BD590 Blu-ray player is also the first Blu-ray player to feature an integrated 250GB hard drive, allowing for easy storage and instant playback of music, photos, personal videos and movies from Vudu. Incorporating LG’s NetCast Entertainment Access, the LG BD590 offers convenient access to a virtually endless array of entertainment content options with a large variety of content options. While the lack of 3D capabilities may make the LG BD 590 seem lacking compared to other flagship players, it is likely that the BD590 will actually be a more useful product since 3D players will require additional and massive cost outlays in a new 3D TV and 3D discs.

Simulation Software helps dairy company to determine stock level and space before costly implementation

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Clover, the biggest dairy company in South Africa, distributes over 1000 product lines that are grouped into product categories. The company’s distribution is done by a fleet of refrigerated trucks. Its central distribution centre is in Johannesburg from where products are transported to regional Distribution Centres (DCs). Clover management wanted to determine if, by following a certain delivery policy, enough products could be delivered to DCs at Pietersburg in the Northern Province and Kimberley in the Northern Cape in time to satisfy demand. They also wanted to determine the minimum stock levels at the two DCs to ensure minimum sales losses. Arena® simulation software was used to analyze the viability of Clover’s new distribution concept and to establish the minimum stock levels for different product categories at the DCs. The number of docking bays at all DCs was taken into account as a possible constraint.
The minimum stock levels of the different product categories at the Pietersburg and Kimberley DCs were first determined by assuming infinite stock levels at the Central DC in Johannesburg. By taking into account real life constraints (e.g. actual sales figures), the Arena model determined minimum stock levels, avoiding sales losses at the two DCs and establishing the stock levels at the Central DC. Additionally, the Pietersburg DC was planning to expand its facility, so the model’s calculation of available storage space was especially valuable. More importantly, simulation assessed the viability of a new distribution concept before a costly implementation.Read more on Simulation Software on the Analista website.

Alternative Energy Sources

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Alternative energy is any kind of energy that is not oil or hydrocarbon based. Not all alternative energy is renewable but there are a lot of renewable energy sources we could be using. Some forms of alternative energy are even good for the environment and it’s these renewable energy sources we really need to be looking at.

We can’t keep paying the amounts we do, to other countries, to import oil. It’s imperative for our own national security that we develop alternative sources that can supply our needs and it’s also imperative that it be done very quickly. I have no confidence that the govt will be helpful in creating an energy policy that leads us to energy independence.

There is a lot of energy that we can harness if we only seek to research and develop the technologies needed to do so. We can get away from the fossil fuels and the old electrical grids by turning to alternatives to these energy sources.

There are many different forms in which Alternative Energy is available.

One of these is Solar Power. Solar power is driven by photovoltaic cells, and these are progressively getting less expensive and more advanced. Solar energy power can be used for electricity, heating, and making hot water. Solar energy produces no pollution, as its input comes completely from the sun’s rays. However, much more work still needs to be done in order for us to economically harness the sun’s energy. For the time being, the resource is a little too conditional, as storage batteries are needed to be used as backups in the evenings and on inclement days.

Wind Energy has become the most-invested-in (by private investors and governments together) alternative energy source for the time being. The great arrays of triple-bladed windmills are being placed all over as wind farms, to capture the motion of the wind and use its kinetic energy for conversion to mechanical or electrical energy. Of course, there is nothing new about the concept of a windmill for harnessing energy.

Surveillance camera alarm systems

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Alarms systems of one type or another have almost become a necessity for safety and security at home. THere are many different kinds of alarm systems to choose from. Which alarm systems you choose depends on what your biggest fear is or what the largest danger to your safety or security is. You can also get vehicle alarms that work very well.

Alarms systems can be either wireless or hard wired. If you’re building a new house you should consider having the alarm systems be hard wired. However be aware that you will need a battery backup for the wired systems. If the power goes off for some reason and you don’t have a battery backup for the alarms you won’t be protected. That’s the biggest drawback with wired systems and the one thing most people don’t do. Always, always have a battery backup.

Surveillance cameras are everywhere now. It doesn’t seem as though people understand this little fact of life. A surveillance camera video seems to show up on the news every night. Even with signs on the buildings saying surveillance cameras in use, the dummies still think they aren’t going to get caught. It makes you wonder if people think they are invisible.

If you watch Criminal Minds or CSI-Vegas or a lot of other shows you can see them following suspects from one camera to the next. This is another thing people don’t believe about surveillance cameras but it’s also true. Big brother is here and the cameras are his main tool.

Remember when hardly any place had surveillance cameras and when they did catch something on film it was so dark and grainy identification was almost impossible? Now a good surveillance system can pick up a gray hair on a redhead in a heart beat. The camera technology has improved that much. With good systems the pictures are crystal clear and people are very easily identifiable. So why do the dummies still rob places with surveillance cameras?

Cape Town Network Installations – benefits of a computer network

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Are you aware of the benefits of a computer network for your business? A reliable Cape Town network installations technician will be able to assist you with setting up a computer network – this will improve the overall performance of your business.

A computer network simply refers to a group of two or more computers that are interconnected and therefore able to communicate with each other. Below are a few possible benefits of a computer network for your business:

  • Connected computers are able to share resources like printers, scanners, drivers and so forth with each other
  • Employees can easily transfer files from one computer to another
  • Computers on the network can connect to the internet through a single line rather than using a separate connection for each computer. This could significantly reduce internet connection costs. Keep in mind, however, that the single line connection would need to be a fast enough to accommodate all computers on the network
  • It is possible to access data stored on another computer on the network. Employees can even run programs that are not installed on their own computer.

The fact that multiple computers on a network can exchange information, as well make use of the same printer, scanner and internet connection, is clearly beneficial for many businesses. If you would like to experience the benefits of a computer network, simply call a professional Cape Town network installations company for assistance.

Free Energy – Solar Powered Cars

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

When one hears the phrase “free energy device”, one might be hearing about one of several different concepts. This might mean a device for collecting and transmitting energy from some source that orthodox science does not recognize; a device which collects energy at absolutely no cost; or an example of the legendary perpetual motion machine. Needless to say, a perpetual motion machine-a machine which drives itself, forever, once turned on, therefore needing no energy input ever again and never running out of energy-is impossible.

However, it is not so simple to say that a new technology for harnessing the energy “floating” in the atmosphere is impossible. New technologies replace old ones all the time with abilities that had just been “impossible”. Harnessing the power of the atom for providing huge amounts of energy was “impossible” until the 1940s. Flying human beings were an “impossible” thing until the turn of the 20th century and the Wright Brothers’ flight.

Solar powered cars will get here eventually. In the 1990’s, emissions laws were being enforced throughout the United States. Many colleges and universities began looking at the possibility of solar powered cars. The finding were that the solar collectors for the cars to run were too large to be put into the vehicles. Development continues on the solar collections to make it possible. For those skeptical, don’t be surprised if it doesn’t all come together in the near future. There are many organizations throughout the world working on doing just that.

Students are aware that using fossil fuels for cars has a negative impact on the environment. Students investigate the amount of pollution a car creates. Students have the opportunity to work together with their research and other students to investigate how to use solar energy for cars. They research the challenges involved and work to find solutions.

Putting Bluetooth Technology To Use

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Bluetooth technology allows devices to communicate over short distances up to say 100 meters at the range of 2.4 GHz. Meant to be an inexpensive and secure way of connecting and exchanging information between Bluetooth enabled devices, it is now a common feature in newer mobile phones, laptops, handheld devices and many other products. They even have bluetooth-enabled sunglasses. If you are learning how to use bluetooth, consider first buying a device that is bluetooth enabled. If you already have one, then you may have discovered some uses of it. For example, it can be used to send photos between mobile phones, send voices or real-time satellite navigation with GPS support.

What is an Isolation Transformer?

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

To understand the Isolation Transformer, you must know what is a transformer. A transformer is a device that converts one voltage to another. There are different types of transformers.

Some transformers have single coil with various fixed or movable tappings. These are non-isolated transfomers. They are generally called variac or auto-transformer.

Can You Build And Link To 100 Web Pages A Day Without Using Duplicate Content?

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

So, I added up all the numbers and if you’re into the website marketing/internet marketing world where you’re building a lot of sites, it looks like you CAN make 96 pages and get them online a day IF you are able to build 12 pages per hour and work for 8 hours a day at that rate. Of course, in order to do that you’d have to use PLR or have some busy article writers that you outsource to. There’s no way you’d be able to get that all online yourself if you had to write AND post the articles.

Speaking of outsourcing, though, if you’re up for it, you could probably outsource the blog posting pretty easily, too. You’d just have to make sure your poster modified the articles alittle bit if they were PLR so that you wouldn’t get penalized for duplicate content.

Doable – yes. Challenging – Very. Most people work in spurts and need to take breaks throughout the work day. Working consistently at a challenging task would be difficult..

Also, one thing I’m not figuring in to this calculation is the time required to build back links to each site.

I have found that it takes 1/3 time to create back links as it does to make the articles themselves, so you’d need to add on about 3 hours to your work day for link building, if you were going to build even just one link to each page or post (unless you got some automated linking software I suppose).

I’m doing a mix of hand linking and using various software and services, and that seems to work out okay for me. Here’s an article on 3 way links if you want to learn more about that.

Unlocked Nokia e71 – Shoppers Buying Models Fast

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

The Nokia E71 Unlocked is one of the best non touch-screen smartphones money can buy – despite the fact that the E71 is more than a year old.

At 114 x 57 x 10 mm, the E71 is a pretty thin and compact as far as smartphones go. This small size also means that the E71 can be used with a single hand, although you may have to get used to stretching your thumb about with the QWERTY keyboard.

The E71 is also a relatively decent smartphone when it comes to weight. 127 grams is enough to put a little weight on your pocket, but not enough to make it bulge out or pull your pants down.

The 3.2 mp camera is a welcome addition to this particular smartphone, although the autofocus function has to be manually enabled by pressing and holding down the “2” or “T” button on the keyboard.

Another beef with the E71 is its pathetically poor 110mb internal memory. An extra microSD flash storage device then becomes necessary to store anything in the phone.

The battery life, however, is a different story. 20 days of standby power, 10.5 hours of GSM talk and 4.5 hours of 3G means that E71 users will have little problems with power.

All in all, the Unlocked Nokia E71 is a good buy as far as smartphones go – $500 to $700 new on average without extra accessories; less if you look for used or pre-owned models. Models are available in black, grey or white color patterns.

How To Go About Measuring Home Ventilation

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

It’s known that air conditioning and ventilation engineering can become a very complicated matter. First, you need to make sure that the building have the capacity to provide sufficient ventilation to keep their occupants healthy and homes safe.

To get the variables right you need to go through careful planning and have many things in mind such as high energy efficiency, hygiene and indoor air quality.

In order to be able to ideally adjust air conditioning and ventilation systems, a lot of variables come into play.

In all cases, make sure that ventilation systems are carefully sized to meet the effective code requirements, that the equipment selected bears the HVI-Certi”fied label and that it is installed to meet manufacturers’ requirements to assure long-term homeowner satisfaction.

The parameters required to measure air conditions are flow, humidity, temperature, pressure, absolute pressure, lux, sound, CO2, volt and milliampere.

These parameters is all measurable using probes supplied by Testo. They all offer low energy consumption, high operational safety and long-term availability.

After eight years of continuously development Testo produced a sensor meeting very high precision, long-term stability, response time and temperature tolerance.

Before approval for use by customers, Testo let the humidity sensor go through a thorough testing phase for more than a whole year.

Apart from their reliable reference measuring instrument Testo 400, Testo offers a highly precision multi-function meter for indoor air quality. It’s called Testo 435.

The purpose of the fire alarm annunciator

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The fire alarm annunciator is a screen that shows all the workings of a fire alarm system and in some models, the layout of the floor plans of the building that is being monitored by the system. A large fire alarm system requires a proper working annunciator to enable firemen to track the fire immediately and devise the best way to approach the fire.

The main purpose of the annunciator is to show the location of the fire clearly so that it can be dealt with in the best manner possible. When there is a fire, the first thing firefighters look at when they arrive at the building is the annunciator. The bigger and more complex the fire alarm system, the more complex it’s annunciator is.

LG Crystal Touchpad Magic

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009

Have you seen the new LG Crystal Touchpad mobile phone launched late this Summer? This handset is a first in that the touch keypad is completely transparent, you can see right through it! Not only that but for people who want to be seen the edges of the keypad light up in use with a ghostly blue light that’s sure to get you noticed.

The LG Crystal is not just a good looker though, its packed out with the latest hi tech apps and technology all controlled by a swipe of the finger across the touchpad. The key pad even recognises handwriting and gestures, the later bring up selected apps onto the screen. The screen too is touch sensitive, again a few swipes of the figure and everything you need is easily accessible.

The downside is that the LG Crystal is only available on contract in the UK and Asia right now, hopefully later upgrades may well find their way into the American market.

Reverse phone look ups and what they can do for you

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Last century saw more inventions than the whole recorded history of mankind.

It is a popular belief that Information Technology saw the most advancements. Well that’s not actually the case. Health and medicinal world is the one with the most new discoveries. These advancements are very promising. Probably the biggest discovery of all is the discovery of stem cells. Of course the Electronic Technology sector is not to be dismissed either. We’ve seen an amazing expansion in this sector as well. Unfortunately some of it is quite controversial. Let’s take reverse phone book lookup as an example. It has tremendously facilitated a very hard task. In the past we had to manually search in the phonebook. It made the task almost impossible to perform (especially for those who lived in highly populated areas).

Well times have changed. Now you can look up a phone number in seconds and headache free. Just go to any of the web-sites that offer the service (phone-searchers.com) type in your telephone number and almost instantly you will have the information that you were looking for.

How easy is that? Things like surname and postal address are often undisclosed. In the case of cellular phone lookup you might get even more information. If you are lucky enough to find Cell Tower triangulation search you might be able to find out the approximate location of a person

Potential benefits of a reverse number lookup are innumerable. You are now able to find the address of a person who has been harassing you over the phone. You can reverse lookup an organizations toll free number to find their name. If you were expecting an important telephone call and missed one, you can also look it up. If only we all had good intentions… Bad folks can take advantage of this service as well. Some maniac can find out where you live if they have your phone number. There are many instances where this can do a substantial amount of harm.

In any case, even if some bad guys decide to use reverse phone lookup, it remains a very useful service, which we should all have access to. Just because they decide to cross the line it doesn’t mean that others will follow their example. I think we should still enjoy the freedom of information.

LCD Plasma Television Screens

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

If you are not getting a clear picture on your LCD plasma television, it just might be due to the fact that the so called “black level” is not set correctly. Usually a TV has to be fine-tuned when it’s taken out of the box. A lot of people don’t do this because they just don’t know that calibration is necessary. But, if you want the highest caliber picture your screen can deliver, one of the first things you have to do is to calibrate your TV screen. When you fine-tune the black level, you are basically adjusting it so that the “black” parts of the screen actually show as black, and not grey or some other color.

Average screen sizes range from 32 inches to 63 inches. Mis-calibrated black parts are mostly noticed on the larger screen models.
