Herbs as a Constipation Remedy?
Herbs can be classified to two categories when used as constipation remedy depending on their function.
Demulcent herbs – these are herbs that help soften the stool for easier movement. Included in this category are flax seed, psyllium seed, fenugreek seed, marshmallow rot, and licorice root. Many of these natural constipation remedies are conveniently available in drugstores.
Laxative herbs – these have cathartic or loosening effect on your colon that promotes the release of the stool. Some laxative herbs are cascara bark, barberry bark, rhubarb root, and dandelion root.
Natural constipation remedies are safe for almost all types of constipation and for people of all ages.
