What Is Obesity?
Those who are so overweight that they can’t leave the house are not the only ones who the term “obesity” applies to. Human beings are considered to be obese if they are over 20% of their “typical” weight for their stature. If you are supposed to weigh 135 pounds for your height, weighing 162 pounds means that you are grossly overweight.
Of course, there are more scientific measurements for this. Using your BMI to check your fat percentage can give a much more accurate idea of your body make-up than old fashioned weight charts, which ignore people with a high muscle percentage. The term obesity applies to anyone with a BMI greater than 30.
You can fight obesity by making adequate exercise and proper eating a top priority in your life. Today is as good a day as any to start. What have you got to lose, besides some unwanted weight?
