Audioslave News

Audioslave was an American rock supergroup that consisted of the former instrumentalists of Rage Against the Machine; Tom Morello (guitar), Tim Commerford (bass and backing vocals) and Brad Wilk (drums), together with Chris Cornell, the former frontman of Soundgarden, as lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist. The band formed in Los Angeles, California in 2001, shortly after the break-up of Rage Against the Machine.

Although during the early stages of their career the band was often described as an amalgamation of two bands, Rage Against the Machine and Soundgarden, or Rage Against the Machine’s fractured parts fronted by a different vocalist, by the time of the release of the second album, Out of Exile, most critics agreed that Audioslave was more than just the sum of its parts and members were getting closer to finding their identity as a cohesive band. While their albums were released to gradually decreasing sales, their third and last album, Revelations still reached #2 in the United States and was the best-received by critics with regard to its consistency.
