For everyday all-around use, a good quality leather hand bag is a must. Look for soft, supple leather with stitched seams in a classic style. The lining should be leather or good quality cloth. Zippers on compartments should slide smoothly. Examine the compartments inside for suitability to the contents you typically carry. Such a hand bag will last for many years, given minimal care. Black goes with just about everything, if you must do with just one. If you have a special costume color that you often wear, look for a quality hand bag that goes well with that color. For example, a carmine red bag looks nice with a matching shade, a bright red, violet and several shades of brown and dark blue.
