Identity Theft Prevention
According to FBI statistics, one of today’s fastest-growing crimes is identity theft and unsurprisingly it is also one of the fastest-growing complaints received by the Federal Trade Commission. Thieves get your personal information without you knowing and commit crimes and rack up debt in your name which is why identity theft prevention is so important.
Legislation has been drafted to combat identity theft but has made only a small dent in this modern form of piracy, so for now this type of crime is going nowhere. The widespread availability of social networking sites and the dependence on high tech electronic devices and computers has made this even more of a concern.
Anyone who says that identity theft is no longer a problem in the 21st century, hasn’t paid attention to phishing sites, email cons, or bogus telemarketers who collect personal information for nefarious purposes. Fraud and Identity Theft victims must focus on minimizing damage by immediately filing a police report and contacting all their finance, credit and lending institutions.
