Dahn yoga is a form of yoga that involves training the mind and the body and combines deep stretching, meditative breathing and other techniques that include energy awareness training. Dahn Hak is the established term for Dahn yoga. When translated, it signifies the study of energy. In the Korean language, Hak signifies the study of a specific theory or philosophy, whereas Dahn signifies the essential, ancient energy which is intrinsic in all life forms. Combined, the term signifies the study of the energy and the system of energy for the goal of individual self development and well-being. The literal translation is a very clear-cut indication of what the ritual is all about, as people are looking to enhance their capacity to control the power of the body and the Spirit.
