Travelling to Whitsunday Island

The Whitsunday Group of Islands off the coast

of Queensland in Australia is comprised of 74

islands. Whitsunday Island is the largest of

the group and an ever-popular tourist

destination, ideally situated as a base from

which to explore the surrounding area. The

scenery is lush and breathtaking;

opportunities abound to try new sports or

observe the unique and diverse wildlife.

Getting around the islands is usually

accomplished by renting a scooter.

One of the most popular spots here is

Whitehaven Beach, known for its miles of

white, silica sand and clear, blue sea. Getting

there might be tricky however, as access is

only by boat and seaplane. Visitors enjoy

scenic walks and lovely views at the northern

tip of the island, known as Hill Inlet. Various

day trips and activities are organized around

the Whitsunday Island group, including quad

bike riding through rain forest, and a

horseback riding lessons which come with

the unusual bonus of instruction in horse

whispering….
